Can Sec get 5 teams in playoffs?

That loss is acceptable if we finish 10-2….we would be in barring crazy results elsewhere
I agree. This is an oversimplification because more upsets are very possible but it looks like UGA is in. The winner of LSU/Bama is in. Loser out. Winner of A&M/Texas is in. Loser out.

Right now, here are the contenders

ACC - Clemson, Miami, Pittsburgh
Big12 - BYU, Iowa State, Kansas State
Big10 - Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Indiana, Illinois
SEC - Alabama (still alive but need to win out), Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M
G5 - Boise State, Army/Navy
Other - Notre Dame

There are probably some 1-loss teams that I am missing but this seems to be the pact currently. Big12 has a bunch of mediocre programs so I think they will eat each other. I don't think BYU or Iowa State will hold up.

In the ACC, Clemson looks solid but they cannot afford an ACC title loss. They can loss and win it (get autobid). Miami continues to win and Pitt is unbeaten so curious to see how that turns out.

Notre Dame needs to win out. I am not confident. 1 more loss eliminates them because that NIU loss is really bad (especially since NIU is losing a lot now)

So 4 for the SEC looks good. Biggest issue maybe Indiana or Illinois.

Still a lot of football to be played.

I would be more concerned with Illinois than Indiana at this point due to scheduling.

Illinois has a tough game against Oregon coming up. Their schedule outside that is pretty cakewalk though.

Indiana has Michigan and tOSU coming up back to back. While Michigan is not much this season, I think they have enough to give Indiana a game.

LSU could still lose one more and be in…same with A&M/Texas loser…Bama can’t make it in over Vols…that’s the only definite…so if they get in, we are definitely in…at 10-2 that is…Bama is alive but they need some things to go their way already

IU is undefeated and Illini have a loss already though…

Been watching Michigan’s games this year, and you base this off of…what exactly?

It’s hard to imagine the committee being objective like this but if Texas is 10-2 with a loss to A&M and 0 wins against ranked opponents they don’t deserve to get in over another 2-loss SEC team.

All has to do with where game is played. If you think playing a December game in cold ass Happy Valley or Columbus would benefit any Sec team then you are mistaken…inside Neyland..then I will take my chances!
Agreed they have whined that SEC teams only play up north in September and never in November. If they get a December game they will pray for snow.

Just hard seeing them drop in polls that far…they will be top 5 still this week…another loss to a good A&M squad and they prob hang inside top 10 when all said and done

It will only take a few more schools to join the big ten and sec and the other conferences fold. There will come a point where the big 10 and sec throw the ncaa out and just do it their selves. A blind man can see this coming.

The SEC from top to bottom is the most balanced I’ve ever seen it. The BIG’s have nobody.

OSU currently has the most talented roster in the country going by recruiting rankings. And they are churning out NFL stars just as often the best SEC teams.

It's not like Michigan doesn't have the talent.

I agree though that they have never really looked "right" this season. Ineffective for the most part and clunky even when things do work out. (Gee that sounds kinda familiar)

You have to add SMU to the ACC list..they are alive

Yes but Notre dame needs to lose, big 12 can’t have two teams get in, etc etc

Let's win out. Get to 11-1. Go to Atlanta. Beat A&M, or Texas, or UGa for the second time, or LSU. Whoever. Get to 12-1. Go to the playoffs with a first round bye. Beat Iowa State, Miami, and Oregon. Win the national title.

Celebrate.

That's the plan.

Go Vols!

I think we will see at least 4 and borderline 5. It will be the conference champ plus runner up and two to three 10-2 teams.

The media who runs the CFP would rather have 10-2 SEC teams than 11-1 Big 12 or ACC schools. They want to maximize their investment and will continue to pull the same moves that kept FSU out last year.

The SEC and B1G are the only two where you will see conference championship runner ups get a chance to join the big dance.

Notre Dame probably won’t loss given their schedule (N IL game aside)

I do think the Big 12 will not get more than 1 team in. ESPN clearly is heavily invested in the SEC and will work to get as many SEC schools in as possible.
