Well yeah. You keep giving them more chances to do what they been doin that’s most likely the outcome.I didn't say that. The defense gave up a first down when we had them on their own 1 inch line.... among others. Shrader set a record I believe as well.
You do realize, in spite of the Mizzou game, our defense is still significantly improved and has done so consistently over the last 3 years… really don’t think DC is the problem… at one point today I saw what looked like several 3 rd team defensive players in on one play (early 2nd half)What do you think? Cheer coach? Come on man, defensive coordinator.
I'm not so sure we are significantly improved. Rush defense is better but pass defense is atrocious. And in big games, rush defense hasn't been great really. Not a big fan of his schemes at all. And Martinez needs to be gone, like yesterday. You do realize, in spite of the Mizzou game, our defense is still significantly improved and has done so consistently over the last 3 years… really don’t think DC is the problem… at one point today I saw what looked like several 3 rd team defensive players in on one play (early 2nd half)
I don't disagree with that at all. it was a team loss. What I think is really funny is that when we first saw our punter everyone wanted to box him up and ship him back to Oz in a row boat. Now he's one of the best parts of the team.Well yeah. You keep giving them more chances to do what they been doin that’s most likely the outcome.
But just a couple of sustained offensive drives and scores takes away some of what they did.
Then it’s a competitive game.
The offense was the culprit.Look, it's pretty clear the defense was the main culprit yesterday, HOWEVER,
the offense wasn't exactly sterling. Scoring only 7 pts!! Even if we only
had 6 or 7 series, we should have scored 21-24 points. Such horrible
play calling has to change at some point. Don't blame it on officials.
We only had 3 penalties well into the 3rd qtr. By then the game was about over.
Exactly. The only change I see being made is DB coach. The contract situation with Martinez is telling.I don't think it has anything to do with Heupel liking Banks. He had no ties to him before he hired him when no one else wante this job. He won't fire him because he has no reason to. Our defense is a top 25 defense in the country. We are top 10 and 15 in key defensive stats and even after this game, we will still be respectable on defense. So what would be the grounds for firing him?
Yes, but look where we were in 2021 vs now… Improvements are gradual (check out Atomic Habits by James Clear), but we appear to be improving by levels, front is getting better… looking at current freshmen and sophomores: Pearce, Joseph’s, West, Hobbs, and more… LBs: Herring, Carter, Telander, and more, still a work in progress unit… DB recruiting class last year w/ Gibson, Matthews, Slaughter, Conyer and Luttrell and this years w/ Boo, Goree, Farooq & possibly more, the DBs will continue to improve.I'm not so sure we are significantly improved.
