Can you IMAGINE CPF demanding a celebration penalty?

I'm not trying to argue just for the sake of arguing. Georgia was already pumped up when they were all running in. You can tell by the fact that they planned that they were getting ready for the game in a big way. The actual celebration was just extra yards for Florida. You can tell by Richt's comments that they had a good couple weeks of practice.
Okay.

yeah, but it's alot different when you realize that you're coach is feeling it also. also shows the players the confidence that he has that they will win. it means alot.

I don't think you are right about the decision, but it is hard to dispute what you just said.

My point.

There is real emotion.

There is manufactured emotion.

You can't thrive on manufactured emotion for long. UGA displayed consistent real emotion throughout the game.

IMHO, the manufactured emotion of the celebration was not needed.

i don't see it as manufactured. i see it as richt allowing his players an incredible release of emotions that in turn allowed them to play loose the entire contest.

i love emotional players like al wilson and that freshman rb for georgia. i also love when i have a player that plays with a chip on his shoulder. those qualities benefit the entire team, they almost feed off it.

Agreed. Mereno definitely adds a spark to UGA's Offense. Let's hope Stafford never adds that quality. :eek:hmy:

mereno's going to be hard to handle in the future. i hope he leaves early. players like him can take a game over themselves.

How does running onto the field convey that message? To show a team you won't roll over, you run it down their throats, like UGA did, and would have done anyways.

They probably don't have the fire/energy to run the ball down the field on them if they aren't given that incentive/spark by the coach. :ermm:

I agree with you LIO...I thought it set the tone for the entire game...The look on the FL players faces was priceless.

Personally I loved the call. I haven't seen that type of emotion from a UGA team in a Loooooong time.

Arguably the single stupidest coaching move I've ever seen. He handed Florida the tying touchdown.

Not to mention Urban Meyers. He was totally bewildered. I'm surprised he didn't burst into tears.

Sending the whole team onto the field may have pumped his team up, but it was a little bush league; especially for a guy knocking his team 2 weeks ago for excessive celebration.

i don't know if I'd call that good coaching, but it was an excellent way to motivate your team. Yes, it did get the Florida players hyped, but he had to expect that. His team played that way the entire game and he is mostly to credit for that. It was bad coaching because of the penalties and field position they lost, but it was a great form of motivation.

Dennis Erickson is the most underrated college football coach of the last quarter century. Everyone laughed when I said they'd be 8-0. They're not laughing now.
