It was more dominant than you think. We went 73-14 from 1995 to 2001. Saban's run is also the most dominant in the history of the sport, so of course any run we've had isn't going to be as dominant as that.

I think you're also forgetting that FSU finished in the top 10 every single year from 1987 to 2000. Nebraska finished outside the top 10 just 11 times from 1962 until 1997 (35 years). When exactly was this era when there weren't dominant teams?

You don't like this era of football because UT hasn't been one of the dominant teams. Plain and simple.

Um, people we demanding Majors should be fired after his first couple of years. There weren’t message boards, but it was out there.

Don’t ever compare Majors as UT coach to Stoops as UK coach .Majors won 3 SEC titles. Won a couple Sugar Bowls . That 1989 team was one of the best ever here. Absolutely ridiculous to even mention that.

Context is everything. Compare how many top 25 wins each had, etc. even so, even bringing up that tool in the same sentence as Majors is ridiculous and I’m not really even sure of the relevance.

It’s not just TN. Ohio State is a blue blood in playoff contention every year. Their fans are growing restless b/c they’ve lost to Michigan the past two years. Bama fans were upset after losing earlier in the year. Some fans said the game “has passed by Saban.” Dabo is receiving a ton of criticism and all he’s done is being a couple of national titles in recent years.

TN fans are passionate and starving for a winner. The majority understand UGA has more talent. However, losing to FL and the way we lost to Mizz is embarrassing.

With that said, just hope Heup can bring in a top 8-10 class this yr as Nico’s jr year will tell us a lot.

I've read fire huep on this board and fire Danny too. All these younger fans got a participation trophy win or lose every year. Their Bedrooms are full of them from summer leagues, pee wee, middle & high school and all. A lot of Al Bundy's out there.

Of course this was when I was young and innocent and there was no social media or heck even that much sports radio. But like we'd play a team, we'd win and it was like.....we celebrate we won. We didn't go into "Oh it was just Marshall" or "We didn't cover the spread", or anything like that. We won. If we lost....yeah that stunk but it was like next week play again.

I'm sure those older will tell me in reality the "nega Vol" talk was there just not as amplified because of the times, but some of that mindset I wish I could get back.

Well, in fairness they only played 11 games back then. You only had “1 loss to give” to win 10 games. Also you could have ties. In 1985 we “only” won 9 games, only lost 1 (2 ties) and finished 4th in the nation.

Johnny also won a Natty (although not here). Still counts In his coaching record.

Johnny won a National Championship. Rebuilt 3 different programs form a shambles. Need full context, not just winning percentage.

I’m probably 10-15 years older (class of ‘79) and I agree with you. We either won or we lost and we moved onto the next game. There was no critique of how we won. But there was also no way to do that. Games weren’t on TV. You listened to it on the radio or you went to the game. Not a lot of opportunity to dissect stuff that way. And only people to talk about it with anyway were just your buddies.
