The answer to why it's illegal to carry a large knife or a gun in today's GB, because the citizens allowed the right to be stripped from them. They were unwilling to fight for that right, or were just too much sheep to know they could fight for it.
I disagree with your opinion. It's not just Great Britain. Very few countries enjoy the gun rights that we have. We are the odd balls. Now I don't think we need to apologize or anything. I believe in American exceptionalism. By our DNA, we are Americans because we didn't like being European. But I do not think we can state as a fact that our inalienable natural right is to own a firearm. That's an opinion, not a fact.
God is always right, people are not

Assault-style weapons are banned in Canada effective immediately, the country's prime minister said Friday.
The move comes less than two weeks after Canada's deadliest rampage in modern history, when a gunman in Nova Scotia killed 22 people after a 12-hour reign of terror.
"You don't need an AR-15 to bring down a deer," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a news conference in Ottawa. "So, effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country."
Police said the gunman had several semi-automatic handguns and at least two semi-automatic rifles, one of which was described by witnesses as a military-style assault weapon.
"These weapons were designed for one purpose, and one purpose only, to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada," Trudeau said.
The ban is effective immediately but disposal of the weapons will be subject to a two-year amnesty period. Trudeau said some form of compensation would also be put in place but the firearms can also be exported and sold after a proper export license is obtained.
Trudeau said that "thoughts and prayers" for mass shooting victims were no longer enough and that's why his government acted.

Looking forward to the day we do the same here. It's only a matter of time.
Or you know the Canadian Police could have actually released the info there was a lunatic impersonating a police officer killing people.....from the article...Yeah but it’s Canada . You only have 3 choice .. apologize until he leaves , hit him with a hockey stick , or throw an empty Molson bottle at him .
Appears according to the link that 9 of the 22 people killed were killed by him setting fires to their houses. He also used other guns than the AR-15.Assault-style weapons are banned in Canada effective immediately, the country's prime minister said Friday.

"Police have said that they learned about the gunman's clothing and vehicle from a witness between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Sunday.
The formal process for issuing an alert was started, but it took several hours to make its way up the chain of command, police said. Nearly three hours later, an alert had still not been issued."

Don't let a couple of posts fool you. As my wife will attest I can be plenty dumb when it countsYou’ve been saying a lot of things I agree with lately. Not just that. I think it just shows you’re not as dumb as I thought.
(I think we’ve progressed beyond blue font.)
I hope your last sentence proves to be wrong.Don't let a couple of posts fool you. As my wife will attest I can be plenty dumb when it counts
I just think many are realizing these extreme, unwavering stances really don't make much sense. I know trut used to grate on people but he provided viewpoints that made me research and alter my own opinion. Couple others have done the same. I don't see the same discussions being had any longer on here or other places. Everyone is in their bunker
hmmmmm now I am confused. Are you saying that closed borders work at keeping out inanimate objects (like firearms) or keeps out people that bring in those inanimate objects? If it is the former, I would need some sort of evidence that prior to border closure those inanimate objects were able to self cross said border. If it is the latter, then glad you finally see the need for a good border wall. For starters, it would take the border being open.
