Canada bans assault-style weapons after its worst ever mass murder

Looking forward to the day we do the same here. It's only a matter of time.

This will be a glorious day when the American government takes the guns away from law abiding citizens. Once they take all the guns then hopefully they take the first amendment also. We do not need anyone questioning the power of government and the press should only report what the government tells them to. Why do we even have a 3rd amendment? If the government wants to take our homes for soldiers then it’s their right. Screw the 4th amendment. Everyone who questions the government should be thrown in jail without due process. Might as well get rid of the 5th also. The government can be the judge and executioners no need for a fair trial. No need for a 13th amendment because we will be slaves of the government. We shall give up all our rights because in the whole history of the world a government has never became tyrannical. Our government will keep everyone safe and feed if we just give them all the power and money.

If you believe this is a far fetched fairy tale then look at what they have done during this shutdown. Now just imagine what they would do with more power.

If you believe the police or military will protect you just ask the mother who was arrested at the playground or the pastor who had church service.

“those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty or safety”

You just order them on the Internet. No background check or ID required

It’s funny. I recently purchased a gun and my background check got delayed. I’m assuming it was because I was buying on a Friday and due to the fact the system is overloaded with folks buying guns. I was called on the Monday after and I was good to go but if the FBI had dragged their feet beyond the 3 days I was legally suppose to be able to purchase the gun but virtually no firearm seller operates within the guidelines of the Brady law anymore. Some people act like anyone can go into any firearm retailer and be in and out in 5 minutes with all the guns and ammo you want.

Assault-style weapons are banned in Canada effective immediately, the country's prime minister said Friday.

The move comes less than two weeks after Canada's deadliest rampage in modern history, when a gunman in Nova Scotia killed 22 people after a 12-hour reign of terror.

"You don't need an AR-15 to bring down a deer," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a news conference in Ottawa. "So, effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade assault weapons in this country."

Police said the gunman had several semi-automatic handguns and at least two semi-automatic rifles, one of which was described by witnesses as a military-style assault weapon.

"These weapons were designed for one purpose, and one purpose only, to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada," Trudeau said.

The ban is effective immediately but disposal of the weapons will be subject to a two-year amnesty period. Trudeau said some form of compensation would also be put in place but the firearms can also be exported and sold after a proper export license is obtained.

Trudeau said that "thoughts and prayers" for mass shooting victims were no longer enough and that's why his government acted.

Yeah that’s why 50 people a week are shot in Chicago.
It reads to me like people living in rural areas know to mind their own business and leave each other the hell alone and don’t need Gun laws to know how the hell to act 🤷‍♂️
