You know, I would never dream of going to the boneyard to question Diana Taurasi's qualities as a player or her character. The lack of courtesy displayed by some Uconn fans is mind boggling. Be polite when in someone else's house, don't criticize mama's cooking, and sure as heck don't diss a LV legend. Seriously y'all learn some damn manners.

Another UConn poster on the ignore list. Seriously, why bother with them. They have no manners and just come here to diss our players and coaches. We have enough keyboard cowards who claim to be UT fans who do that to put up with a troll who just does it because they can.

Mmmhmmm. Yamndankees in a nutshell. It's hopeless; silk purse/sow's ear. Nothing will ever make them decent human beings; it's just not in their genes. That's the reason they hate quality people so much; they know they aren't and never can be anything but bottom of the barrel. So they lash out, come on other boards, and just wind up showing themselves for what they are...trash.

Put on ignore. Don't respond to their hate. You aren't discussing things with them; you are enabling them.

Candace Parker is certainly the biggest thorn in UConn fans side of anyone that has ever played for Tennessee. The fact that their record against Candace is 0 wins and 3 losses as is Geno's really hurts their poor souls. Then you add that she dunked in their face in one of those wins just adds fuel to the fire.
Congratulations Candace on your award you are one of the greatest players ever to play the game of women's basketball.

I think uconn &TN only played 2 games while Candace was at TN. In January of 2006 and 2007. When was the third game?

Guessing they are referring to the 2005 game where SWG had her best showing as a Lady vol and led Tennessee to the road win. Parker was redshirted that season though and didn't play. Her first game was actually just an average showing..she fouled out and had 13 points. Spencer and Hornbuckle were the heroes that game. Her game in 2007 as a sophomore might be the best individual performance we've seen in UT history, she had 30 points, 12 boards, several blocks and assists, plus she made key plays down the stretch to save the win and dunked on UCONN's court no less. Epic performance.

The 4 year stretch of the 6-pack, Tennessee went 3-0 against UCONN, won 2 titles, and advanced further or finished higher in ranking all 4 years. Since then it has obviously been a different tale in regards to results, but Tennessee still holds a 3 game win streak again Connecticut, which I believe is the longest current one in the country against the Huskies.

Candace is the best player period. That said maybe she doesnt like Geno anymore than he likes her. In the previous Olympics he complained on her effort at times. So maybe he thought she would not respond to his coaching and leadership, and that might be a valid reason for not choosing her. Personally I don't think a coach should monopolize the games...it is about the atheletes not the Coach, but until someone stops him he will put the team he wants out there. Sad state but those who make those decisions are letting him play favorites. You either kiss is pie hole or you don't play in the Olympics. I am sure Candace knew this before selections were made.

I know it is not a popular opinion here.... but i understand why coaches pick who they do.... they are more comfortable with this person than they are with that person....

As examples, Pat in 1984 caught hell for naming 2 Lady Vols to Olympic team.... and those were the days before we got really big in the sport,.... before our very first championship....

And that same year.... Bobby Knight caught significant flack for who he named to the Olympic team... Charles Barkley was by most accounts the best forward in camp, but Knight didn't like him and he was not named to the team....

It happens. And it happens all the time

It's okay for their own former player to have words with the refs, get techs, get called for flagrant fouls, get suspended but when Candace shows any type of emotion on the court they want to question her character. GTFO!

Anyways Congratulations CANDACE PARKER! WELL DESERVED!

They all can say whatever they like because they have their mouth, but MS.Parker ur a "star" Amen!

Well, you are right that your opinion is not likely to be a popular one.

Now, I don't think there is any criticism of Geno taking Uconn players on the national team. That was never the issue. And Candace is a bit of a different situation than Sir Charles. Unlike Barkley,. CP3 had a distinguished legacy on the national team. From wikipedia:

Parker, was a member of the USA Women's U18 team which won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championship in MayagĂĽez, Puerto Rico. The event was held in August 2004, when the USA team defeated Puerto Rico to win the championship. Parker was the leading scorer for the team, averaging 16.6 points per game.[29]

Parker played for Team USA in 2008, winning her first gold medal as USA beat Australia 92-65.

Parker was invited to the USA Basketball Women's National Team training camp in the fall of 2009.[30] The team selected to play for the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2012 Olympics is usually chosen from these participants. At the conclusion of the training camp, the team traveled to Ekaterinburg, Russia, where they competed in the 2009 UMMC Ekaterinburg International Invitational.[30]

Parker played for Team USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She led the team in rebounds and blocks throughout the olympics, helping them win another gold medal, as they beat France 86-50 in the gold medal game.

Despite her performance in the previous Olympics, Parker wasn't selected to play for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

And, CP3 was still in the prime of her career but was left off the team with a just graduated Uconn player Breanna Stewart in effect filling her spot.

Let's change the example, I am making a selection for the men's national team and Kevin Durant signals strongly that he wants to play for the national team but gosh darn, I just don't feel comfortable around the guy and would feel better with an A-A player I just finished coaching in college. You know what I do, I get over my bad and freakin' pick Kevin Durant. Good coaches make the no-brainer decisions; it happens all the time...

If we're going to mention Parker taking plays off then we should compare her to Diana or Griner or Augustus who completely disappears in games at times. Parker, unlike Diana, plays on a multiple surgically repaired knee and has periods of time where she plays with a great amount of pain. Diana's missed time for "dental work" but UConn faithful tried to link Parker's omission to her missing the World Championship because she had to have her knee scoped.

Candace averaged a triple double in the last big tune up for the Olympics against competition far better than all but two teams they faced in Rio. Both EDD and Breanna praised Candace after that tour for being a great role model and guide for them. After the tour USA basketball had Candace doing all their press and photo sessions for their Olympic preview coverage including a nationwide media tour. She gave up a 7 figure contract in Russia to prepare for the Ollympics and be their main go to for promoting the women's team... and then basically say thanks but we don't want to include you on this team that you proved to be a leader of and great spokesperson for and we are going to choose two players who both states they greatly benefitted from your presence.

Riiiiight. You know, debating whether Taurasi or Parker is the better player would fit your account. Folks posting ad hominem attacks on Candace Parker's character not so much.

I am not at all surprised that you can't recognize the difference, though.

It's just another troll, madtown. Truth though he probably can't tell the difference. Bad manners and bad upbringing.

This one just tries to pretend to be a decent human being...fails again.

The funny thing about this response is you incorrectly deem the criticisms of Parker as ad hominem attacks. But, your response is an ad hominem attack against the posters.

The premise was that Parker's character was such that it precluded her from being selected for the Olympic team. You didn't attack that premise. Instead you attacked the character of the posters making the statement. That is ad hominem.

I call BS on anybody saying anything about Candace Parkers character. She is a wonderful person.
