Candy/Dessert Thread

Because the red velvets are the best, no orange in that!

I take a package of oreos, grind them up in a blender until they are real fine, and add in cream cheese - doesn't matter if regular or low fat variety, all tastes the same when mixed. (if you get the regular package of oreos it is 1 full package, if you get the specialty packages like red velvet or other smaller packages of cookies like thin mints, you use 1/2 package of cream cheese). Mix in the cream cheese until it gets into one big lump of dough. You'll notice it gets tough to mix anymore.

Roll them up in balls, put them in the fridge for 15 to 30 minutes as they are much easier to dip into melted chocolate. Get any melting chocolate you want, white, milk, dark, etc.

Store them in the fridge.

I've done regular oreos, mint oreos, peanut butter oreos, thin mints, and red velvet oreos.

I haven't gotten to try them yet, but oh am I looking forward to it. As a bartender at a whiskey bar, I kinda went above and beyond the recipe. It calls for pouring a little whiskey on top of the cupcakes with poked holes to seep in, but I actually reduced a little whiskey with juice from the jar of Luxardo cherries (which is also the cherry on top), as well as some Angostura bitters to have more of the Old Fashioned taste inside the cake itself.
 
Ok so they're a little bit rich. I'm thinking probably cut back a tiny bit on the sugar in the cakes themselves, and also go a little lighter on the amount of icing per cupcake would help.
 
You should have cut up a slice with ice cream and taken that picture! Cant wait for fresh peach season!
 
My Mom has a business out of her basement and makes gourmet chocolates by hand. I've been spoiled by this stuff my whole life. I can't even stomach most candy bars and I don't really like milk chocolate. It's the best **** you've ever had.

I'm in East Tn and usually don't see a good season for ripe ones,where do you find them at ?all I see is what is grown around here and there isn't many to pick from,that I know of

if I could run across a bushel of good ones,I would buy them


and try to can them,I've never canned any Peaches before,but I ain't scared to try either :)

Never found grocery stores to have good ones so we go to a fruit stand or market in the area. One of the places we go to has amazing melons and other fruits, some veggies as well. They also have fresh peach, strawberry and blackberry slushies, just thinking about them now, they need to reopen for the season!!

I'm not driving to SC or GA just for peaches :) and the grocery store ones suck
 
I'm working on some croissants right now,I don't think you could call em a dessert,but this seems to be the baking thread :)
 
I'm the office birthday baker. Last month made caramel corn cupcakes, last week was a chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake which was sooooo good, and tomorrows are cinnamon toast crunch cupcakes, will taste test shortly!

this is an easy recipe for chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
Directions
1 Heat oven to 375ºF.
2 Mix sugars, butter, vanilla and egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt
(dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
3 Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
4 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly;
remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.

I didn't take the time to make some coarsely chopped pecans,so i used the pecan chips and I used some Dark Chocolate morsels from Nestle,they taste pretty darn good and they are really soft too
 
well not a dessert,but there damn good
