Capitalism and Wealth Distribution - How do you see it?

I appreciate your sound response and taking time to cut to the truth.

A mountain is probably technically not the right shape - but it is some type of pyramid shape that can get fatter or narrower with time. It's not a skyscraper, but it's also not a pancake.

The devil is in the details as far as what constitutes "excessive." You and I seem to agree that the current allocations are about right. Others might disagree.

I believe in capitalism. It's not perfect, but it's the best system for man's flawed existence. I also believe in democracy to ensure the opportunity to allow for upward movement and prevent an oligopoly.

No you don't!

:p

are they putting down capitalism or putting down abuse of capitalism?

I hate to be sincere with regards to talking about democrats, but the democrats, not liberals, are concerned with the abuse of capitalism. We all should be no matter our party lines.

Liberals on the other hand are power hungry b@$tards!

Sweet. My own personal guru. I have a few questions I'd love to know about myself.

Do I believe in Jesus?

The zone defense?

Bruce Pearl?

The second shooter theory?

Jorts?

1.) Yes, you do believe in Jesus but on limited terms. You believe was an actual person without all of the spiritual mumbo jumo.

2.) Only with regards to high school because of the limited talent you have to deal with.

3.) He is a legend in your own mind. You believe he is the face of the program.

4.) Not only do you believe in the second shooter you believe in a third and a fourth.

5.) This is one of your habits that you cannot kick. It is so darn economical that you can't help yourself but make jeans into jorts.

How about an in between - they often exaggerate the abuses of capitalism. They frequently point to the rich and successful as evidence of the abuses.

For example, free trade agreements generally have a net benefit for the country as a whole. Of course there are winners and losers. When the losers' cause is promoted as evidence of abuse and the remedy is to restrict free trade, the net effect is negative.

Put another way, the abuses of restriction of capitalism are minimizes while the abuses of capitalism are trumpeted.

It's not that I don't believe in capitalism, it's that I don't trust corporations in the least. It's the whole "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" thing.

I disagree vehemently. The vast majority of corporations provide a wealth of benefits to the system.

Even the evil personified as Exxon is a net positive for the country.

Corporations are made up of people, so in essence you don't trust people?

but you trust politicians?

at last there are repercussions for corporations caught betraying the public trust or for neglecting any of its stakeholders.

There is extremely limited recourse against pols, unless they break the law and even then there's latitude (see Kennedy clan).

For trustworthiness, politicians aren't even close to corporations. Additionally corporations have no ability to coerce as the gov't does. I'll hang my flag with the corps.

the dems, with the media's help, has demonized Corporations so effectively and at the same time have sold themselves as America's savior even though the politician's do absolutely nothing except find ways to get more power. it's really sad.
