Cards @ Reds - Big Series

Show me where I said we would win by any number? I just said we will win the central. I know it and you know it as well. This little bobble is just giving those who finish behind us with regularity a little hope for us to squeeze out down the stretch. It's more entertaining that way...

I'm sure you can find some Braves fans that said the same thing 4 years ago

Glad to see Lohse took three months off for injury to continue to suck.

Geez we're on the hook for him for two more years.....Good lord, for almost $12M per year. :banghead2:

And the Reds have had the No. 1 offense in the MLB almost the whole year and good pitching to go with it.

I'm not sure what you've been watching...seriously...

Are you serious?

Name a better 1-2 than Carpenter and Wainwright.

And look how both teams are doing so far. If either team plays that inconsistent they will get rolled in the playoffs

Carp and Wainwright are a combined 30-10. I'd say that's pretty consistent.

And the Reds have won like 14 out of their last 15 series, also pretty consistent.

2 pitchers won't win a series. Garcia is good, but if he goes past 5 innings then he has been known to implode and Westbrook hasn't proven anything yet. And the Reds may have won 14 of your last 15 series, but they still haven't run away with the division.

That's because the Cardinals are good. Not sure if you know that. They have the best player in the game to go along with Carpenter and Wainwright.

In a 5 game series if you lose 2 straight you're as good as done.

In a 7 game series you better hope in Carp and Wainwrights 5 starts you go 3-2.

I'll put Carp/Wainwright/Garcia against anyone. Heck, even Westbrook has thrown well in his three starts even if he doesn't have much to show for it.

Unfortunately, this team is too freaking inconsistent. I really thought that Reds series would get them going but I am not sure if it did or not. I don't care who the pitching matchups are, you cannot lose 2 of 3 at home to a team 20 games below .500. This team has 5 games left on this homestand and needs to win 4 of them.

Yes, because we have shown that we can give Carpenter and Wainwright the run support in every single game. It doesn't matter how well those two pitch if our offense craps out. I wouldn't trade Pujols, Carpenter or Wainwright for anyone in the majors but that doesn't mean we are World Series bound just because we have them on payroll.

Who said they were World Series bound?

Ha, the VN cracks me up...

And if anyone but Brad Lidge had been on the mound we could all sit here and argue about who will go longer without another Championship
Better late than never... But Pujols hit the ball that still hasn't landed off of Lidge in 2005, and Houston went on to win the series anyway.

I'm just bumping this thread to the top to congradulate the Reds on the Central division. I've had it with the 2010 Cardinals.

Will hold off on the celebrating until after the final Reds and Cards series. We choke as bad as the last time and the Cards are right back in it.
