Cards @ Reds - Big Series

No one else threw any punches. Cueto kicked when no one else did anything. Don't give me that crap about he might have had stitches or a broken nose

Yeah Cueto's the only one who struck anyone. Couple it with LaRue getting injured by him and it makes sense.

let me give it a try....angel fans are typically a$$holes who carry manpurses on the weekend.

meh, that didn't feel anywhere near as good as i thought it would.

The sales rep said it was a satchel.

Phillips and Molina should have both been suspended for instigating the thing. And I'm sorry, but if you are pinned its about self-preservation. 7 games is retardly harsh for the guy forced up on the wall

No it's not. Watch the video again - Cueto is surrounded by his own teammates. I keep hearing the "he was just defending himself" line, but that's stretching it beyond the limit. Nobody else was punching or kicking (including Carpenter, who also got shoved against the screen), and for a guy who was just looking out for himself, it's pretty miraculous that his cleats happened to find two Cardinals players. I realize you're a Reds fan and you want to stick up for your own, but he deserves to be suspended for each and every one of those 7 games. He's lucky he didn't cause more serious damage.

Carp was too but did you see him kicking like a fool?

Carpenter restarted the damn thing, Cueto clearly attempts to help separate Rolen and Carpenter after that douche started running his mouth and grabbed somebody. So, yes, Cueto prob deserves a suspension, but you can blame ***** Carpenter for it even getting to that point.

Cueto's actions might have been overboard, but to act like Carpenter is innocent in all this is just ridiculous

The only person who threw any kind of punches or kicks was Cueto

The players that instigated the fight should have been suspended, end of story. If the mlb wants to hands down suspensions for fighting, they need to get the guys that caused it to get out of hand

Yeah, Molina and Carpenter had nothing to do with it getting out of hand.

I'd sooner give one to Carpenter than Molina. Phillips was being a tool by tapping Molina's shinguards twice, so I have absolutely no problem with Yadier getting in his face. The instigator was absolutely Phillips there. Carp ran in and escalated things unnecessarily, but I'm not sure his actions were suspension-worthy. I do wish he'd cool his jets, though. If he really did throw the MF bomb at Dusty Baker, however, that's just funny.

So yes, both Reds players and Cardinals players contributed to the "brawl." However, the only person getting violent was Cueto, and he will rightfully serve a suspension for it. So, basically, the aftermath of Phillips running his mouth was a sweep by the Cardinals, a crappy performance on his part throughout the series, and the suspension of the Reds' best pitcher. Nice.

I just hope that at some point in the future that cueto gets one thrown at his earhole.

Not near as much as I hope Carlos Fisher or Bill Bray get to earn their salary by doing a live action replay of Mike Torrez's beaning of Dicky Thon on Chris Carpenter.

I'd like to think that would be Aroldis Chapman's first order of business when he comes up.
