Carolina at Duke predictions

If K doesn't realize that Paulus' supposed leadership doesn't outweigh Paulus' lack of athleticism, dribbling and ability to play D, the Dean Dome game will be scary. I've never seen K make such a stupid move in a game of basketball.

Can't blame the game soley on him as much as we hate him. Can't have the kind of turnovers that we had, throwing them to open air, handing them right over being lazy with the ball, etc. Poor shot selections as well, just throwing it up hoping it lands near the rim is not exactly a good shot.

except he was responsible for way too many of the silly lazy passes and passes to nowheresville. Also he got burned defensively the entire second half.

scheyer didn't look so hot either.

Sheyer, Henderson, Singler, etc all feed off of guard play. Smith being able to penetrate and kick it out makes them all better players. It frees up space for all of them, allowing better looks for Sheyer and Singler and giving Henderson room to be more like DeMarcus Nelson (only better). Paulus doesn't have that. And I can't stress enough how bad he is on D. Smith can also penetrate and score or the above wouldn't be able to happen. As I said earlier, having both Smith and Paulus on the floor together worked best for Duke, but K went away from that in the second half. Paulus got good looks, because defenders backed off of him out of fear of Smith or Henderson slashing to the basket. Perhaps it's because I was never tall enough to be anything but a guard, but I've always felt offense starts with a good PG.

Scheyers loss of footing on quite a few occasions had nothing to do with paulus

i'll grant you that, but he's always had that. Don't think it had nearly the effect on the game that Paulus did. Look at the first half. Paulus started and Duke was flat all around. Smith came in, slashed and dashed and had the speed to get up and down the court with UNC and Duke came roaring back, got two quick fouls on Floppy and Paulus was able to be in the right spot to make some plays. Smith goes out as Paulus resumes control and it falls apart.

Paulus is not good, I know this, he had many mistakes, that will never change, but there were other bad plays that were not because of him that did not help the cause.

In the end, Duke needs some major work offensively, they go on these dry runs way too much whether that is because of Paulus or not.

Atleast Harrison Barnes is sitting behind the Duke bench with a Duke shirt on. And he surprised K with the visit. I'll take that.

Yep, that's a good get. Seems like a good kid.

EDIT to add: I'm sure my opinion will change once he officially dons the Duke Blue.

Although this dispay might have him rethinking his decision. K looked like Hitler with the Allies ten miles outside of Berlin. I've been watching him for over 25 years, seen many an f-bomb, but never seen anything like that.

just wait until it is at the dean dome, that's dukes place just as duke's is unc's place...they might as well just switch arenas.
not really..they are like 3-3 the last 6 games at UNC..but the key is Lawson..Dook has never beat UNC when he's played..he's just too much for Dook to handle.

It's never even been close when Lawson has played...I think the average margin of victory in those 4 games is 14-16 points...

It won't be any differant when the two teams play in Chapel Hill....if Duke can light it up behind the arc(i.e. Chapel Hill game last year) then they stand a chance of winning...

But in the end it will most likely play out like it did tonight....Duke will shoot well for a period of time then UNC's inside game and Lawson's penetrating will take over and it will be another double digit win for UNC

Direct result of no inside game to speak of. All shooting teams are streaky throughout a game.

Keep dreamin'. Isn't going to happen this year. Duke doesn't stand a chance with big boy Zoubek starting.

Well it was obvious that Duke was not going to shoot 68% in the 2nd half, Carolina is just a better team and Duke had no answer inside what so ever. Ty Lawson was incredible, if Carolina wins it all this year it will no doubt be because of him

.50 is better than .0. Winning every other year there I will take.

It's passion, baby!!!

I liked watching the basketball but I was sick of the Tyler love fest by Dick V

Dick V. was not the guy for my game, I had other announcers.

And all of you guys can say it won't happen at Dean, which I'm sure BC heard before the game as well, but I'm not going to be a pessimist about my own team and say it can't happen. :eek:k:

No need to get petty...bringing up a fluke loss in an attempt to simultaneously prove a point and take a shot

UNC is far and away the better team right now....unless we see some lights out shooting from Duke and an off night from UNC's entire starting lineup it's going to be a repeat of last night when they play in Chapel Hill

well obviously I got you uppity because of a point I made about BC. Besides, I never said Duke was the better team, all I said is there is a chance, whatever that may be that Duke can win at Dean just like BC's chance or any other team for that matter because of UNC's defense, which allows for so many points, all that needs to happen is for that one player to light it up on any team and UNC falls. It's not rocket science.
