Carolina/Duke Basketball: The 2022-2023 Thread Celebrating the Tarheel Final Four Victory over Coach K in his Final Game

I generally assume people are offended when they resort to name calling from a simple question, but didn’t recognize you were using those as terms of endearment.

Not sure what you’re getting at with pseudo dominance or any of that. I certainly haven’t made any false accusations and I’d like to see you name a false statement that I made. Regardless, what do my other statements have to do with this question that you’re not answering?
I didn’t resort to name calling. I asked a legitimate question. You thinking dumb and naive are nouns instead of adjectives answers my question though.

You saying it's "clear" that Michael Savarino is a worse basketball player than Duke's other recent walk-ons is pretty obviously made up when everyone in this thread knows you can't name a single one of them
Why didn’t he transfer to another blue-blood or even power 5 or even a division 1 or 2 school as a walk-on if his abilities permitted it? That’s what the argument is based on.

Didn’t K put his grandson on the team? Would that kid ordinarily play for Duke? I’m guessing not since he transferred to NYU after grandpappy left. Does this diminish your respect for him like it does other coaches since presumably a more deserving walk-on should have had that spot?
For a guy that comes in and is critical of those that are Duke fans and have knowledge of Duke you sure know a helluva lot about Duke. If we’re being critical of those that like Duke and know what’s going on with them, what does that mean for you who doesn’t like Duke, but who also knows about K’s grandson and where he transferred to? Not exactly common knowledge.

I remembered he was on the team and Google told me the rest.

Happy to get back to the discussion when you’re ready
No no, it’s good. You’re resorting to making dumb, pointless comparisons. I stay away from lowering myself to your weak standards.

And, yes, that’s an insult because you know it’s a dumb comparison and you can’t fight that

Maybe once K retired he preferred playing 27 minutes a night at NYU to 20 minutes all season at a major school. Certainly makes sense to me without needing to be proof he's unqualified to be a walk-on

I gotcha . Well, just remember that earlier in the week you said that if you had any questions you could come here and ask the “blue blood” because we all knew everything . No need for Google just come back to the thread and ask me or someone else a question and I’ll be happy to help you out.

So in other words-he couldn’t walk on at a d1 or d2 school and get minutes? Are most walk-ons a high level power 5 schools d3 guys?

Thanks for confirming my point

Glad someone is offering to talk without resorting to insults from a simple question. I don’t doubt you know the program well.

Max Johns transferred in as a walk-on after playing 7 minutes a night at Princeton (what a time to leave), and it would make sense for Savarino to want a bigger role than that. Spencer Hubbard is another walk-on not showing any offers, maybe he had some in D-II but he's 5'8 so who knows. NYC is also a good place to be if you want to be a sports agent like Savarino apparently does

If only someone could introduce him to say.. David Falk or someone like that…

Damn. Eric Montross has cancer.
Damn I hate to hear that. He’s always been a great guy. I remember when he was still a student and he took time visit kids in the hospital. I remember he stayed very connected to one kid in particular who ended passing away from cancer and I remember hearing it affected him a great deal. All the best to him.

Gonna be a mostly new roster next season in Chapel Hill. Remains to see if that’s good thing or a bad thing.
