Some do not want to dedicate the time and effort that Jones or Dooley or any other coach at that level requires (not suggesting the two are the same). This kind of thing happens. It has happened before (remember Askew?). It will happen again.

He tried and it wasn't for him. Playing angry is dumb too IMO. Play aggressive and smart. Playing angry leads to penalties, ejections, and coaching changes.
Coaches are not mad at him, he doesn't seem mad, why are you bitter towards him? This has nothing at all to do with you and will not affect you at all. He wasn't going to start, struggled to get into the 2 deep mix so even as a fan the only thing you miss is him on the sideline. A best of luck would be enough.

I agree with most of your post with the exception of playing angry. If you have ever played NT in a 3-4, you have to play pissed off. Some refer to it as controlled anger, controlled aggression, I refer to it as being pissed aggressive angry. The NT is the mule in the 3-4, getting smacked by 2-3 aggressive OL every play is not a place for a cupcake. The trench is fun, brutal fun, but you better bring your man britches and play angry. Very angry, just not stupid. Been over 40 years since I donned the pads,,,,but man I would do it in a heartbeat given the chance. I would get pancaked but it would be worth it.

I don't believe Marsalis Teague was over-rated at all.

Marsalis had a decent freshman year...playing the slot. Then, Kiffin moved him to DB. He was a poor DB, though no fault laid with him. Physically, he was not capable of being a good DB. However, that didn't keep Kiffin from playing him out of position and ruining his college career.

Now I understand there r some players that could handle it, but unless Jones wanted to force Carrs hand by transferring he botched this for sure. Every kid needs to be handled different. These kind of tactics aren't going to earn him much love by HS coaches or recruits/parents he visits. Everyone bashed Dooley for not being all about the memphis area, and now Jones is going to learn how the "fence" around the state stuff may just have to be brought in just a bit. Leaving the area out.

All these transfers make me wonder if these kids are jumping off a sinking ship...to early??
