Carrol Resigns

Not directly. It's not an "official" championship the way everything else in college sports is. The so-called championship is still conferred by the polls, which is the way that it's always been. There is no formal NCAA championship in I-A football.

EDIT: The coaches are required to pick the BCS title game winner as their #1 pick, yes. But that's not the same thing as it being an official NCAA championship.

Wow reading some of those comments were beyond hysterical.

Ungrateful bandwagoners all those USC fans are. Did they forget what they were before Carrol? Last I remembered, it was a 4 letter word and typically smells bad.

There is an ESPN insider article about who some of the other choices for HC at USC. Can an insider give us some of the other choices?

I hope Coach O does not go to USC, I really don't know why he would, it looks like they are going to go after Mike Riley and I don't think O has any connections with Riley.

Id be more worried Carrol would take him to Seattle with him..

So Riley is out, Bates is going to Chicago, and the program is about to be hit with sanctions.
Things are about the change in the Pac-10.
The power's pretty much already shifted to Eugene for the next couple years. Only thing that could change that is if Sark finally gets things rolling in Seattle, but that's a big maybe right now.

But if Garrett pulls his head out of his rear end for once and makes a good hire, USC will be back in about three years max.

With Carroll gone and most of the starters coming back for the Ducks next year, they ought to consider anything less than another Rose Bowl berth (and probably a win this time) a disappointment. Two straight Pac-10 titles might finally help them get that needed success to finally land the top recruits they've always attracted but never quite closed.

agreed. their schedule is much harder next season though. for instance they haven't won at cal or at oregon for a very long time. i think the primary beneficiary is ucla because of the geographic advantage. then probably cal (geography again), UW and oregon.

They had the press conference at 6pm. He's now the coach of Seattle. Mr Prater, you know what to do :)
