Carter blasts Bush for financial crisis

You apparently know absolutely nothing about me.
and even less about Jimmy Carter. He was a Naval Academy grad, naval officer, then politician. How does that equate to some in depth financial or economic knowledge?

Bottom line was that the guy was a disgusting pacifist in everything he ever did. He was too freaking soft on every issue on earth and it undermined any effort at leadership. Leaders have to make tough decisions and confront big issues. He took the easy route regularly and cowered in the face of most issues.

I would say he was too smart to be a good politician. Intellectually he was above average, politcally I would say he was a disaster.
no he wasn't. Bill Clinton was miles ahead of Carter in brains and was the consummate politician.

I was speaking generally. Bill Clinton was the exception. If we are talking intellectual merits alone, I believe he is the only US president to ever be a Rhodes Scholar. And politically he was a force.

cool.

Generally speaking, the "Carter was too smart for his own good" line is just bunk.

Jimmy Carter was a joke as president. W has been a joke. Enough said about either of them

Too bad JFKJr isn't with us. This could/would have been his time.

Looking forward to seeing the responses

the Kennedy family's influence on American politics will thankfully die once Ted passes away.

Following up truefan's remarks, I would still say Carter was more intellectual than he was political, and Bush Jr. is more political than he is intellectual. Neither were/are any good in a presidential capacity. Although political shrewdness did get Bush jr. a second term.

I disagree. Kerry was just unelectable.

Possibly. Kerry was a pathetic candidate, but I bet he could be elected in this atmosphere, if for nothing else, he doesn't have an "R" next to his name and he isn't associated with Bush.

the protester thing was a bigger problem than he and the dems wanted to believe.

Plus, the condescending Yale rhetoric class garbage doesn't play well to his specific voter block.

That said, I'd vote for him over Obama in a heartbeat.

My point exactly. The democratic party needs to get move back to the center with its politics. A conservative democrat is exactly what this country needs at the moment.
