My point exactly. The democratic party needs to get move back to the center with its politics. A conservative democrat is exactly what this country needs at the moment.
:rock2:

Then I would present to you Mr John McCain

the protester thing was a bigger problem than he and the dems wanted to believe.

Plus, the condescending Yale rhetoric class garbage doesn't play well to his specific voter block.

That said, I'd vote for him over Obama in a heartbeat.

The combination of the general disgust with the republican party, apparent downtrodden economy, and McCain as his opponent, I would think he would have a pretty good shot at winning this time around, despite his faults. To use a Fulmerism, it is kind of the "perfect storm" for the Repubs right now.

...I think it is more of GWB losing this election for the Repubs than it is the democrats actually winning it.

I've said it a bunch here that Obama is garnering support based upon who he isn't, not because of who he is and what he represents. Our last "who he isn't" president was Carter and that was an unmitigated disaster.

I think some independents may be voting against republicans, and that is probably the difference in this election so far, but some democrats do identify much with what Obama is saying. If McCain would have stayed centrist in this election it could have been much closer. I don't think he really believes the stuff he says to shore up the base, but I don't think Obama will be as bad as some make him out either. I suspect both will be more centrist then they let on. Both choices really stink, I think we agree on that. We just don't agree on who we will vote against on election day.

i just turned 30 a couple of weeks ago so obviously i wasn't around when JFK was around. up until about a year ago i knew very little about his politics. for the last year or so though i have read and learned a lot about the man. look up his speeches and read them. look at what he believed. that man was nothing like the rest of his family. he was more of a conservative than any repub in power at this time. i would absolutely vote for the man if he was running today.

I think the point was about the rest of the family. Most would argue that JFK was the best of the bunch, but his presidency consisted of almost nothing, save some speeches.

Hell, Obama gives nice speeches.

Let's see:
1) Bay of Pigs
2) Near nuclear war (Russia would never tried that Cuban missile stunt with Ike in the Whitehouse).
3) Began the process of sending military personnel to Viet Nam.
4) Covert relations with a mafia woman in addition to the sexual liason with MM.

What a Prez!
