carter on Israel

Where do you get that Jimmy Carter hates Israel from that article?

It is not so much from one article. It is Carter's body of work that leads you to the conclusion that he is pro Palestinian, even though Israel has made most of the concessions asked of them no peace has lasted. Carter fails to see that Hamas and Hezbollah will not allow the Palestinians to live in peace with Israel.

He calls removing Palestinians to another country "ethnic cleansing" when in actuality it would probably be the best thing for them. They would no longer be caught in the middle of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Israelis.

Carter is about as right now as he was during his presidency, at least he's consistently wrong.

he has a history of being a gainst israel.

It seems to me that he wants to find a solution to the Israel and Palestinian conflict. Sounds like he is just giving his opinion on some ideas that may or may not work. I'm not defending Carter, he wasn't a very good President but I don't think he hates Israel either. He may be doing all of this for attention too, who knows.

Problem is he has already been shown that when Israel does compromise and give back land that land is then used to launch rockets, all these concessions are one sided, Israel always gives up something and gets nothing in return.

I don't know if he hates Israel but he advocates for the Palestinians at Israels expense. It is easy to understand why so many hold the view that he is anti Israeli.

Well said, unlike the OP.

Carter is irrelevant now, the bigger concern is Susan Rice, our new Ambassador to the United Nations.

I hope Obama and Rice see that the united nations has been allowed to be corrupted and no longer serves the purpose for which it was intended.

are you serious. hussein o and rice see the UN as the world's savior. it was Hussein O who wants to give the UN so many billion a year to help with world hunger and poverty. he wanted to create a new tax to where the money would go directly to the UN. here is the link.

I love when people talk about Israel "giving back" land that was essentially handed to them at the end of World War II.

Uhmmm, no they took it in another war.
No. The UN partitioned the land now called Israel from the Palestinian state in '47. That was a followup to the British Mandate For Palestine, which the always effective League of Nations cooked up after WWI.

Your getting confusing, I'll admit I've been drinking but the country of Israel that was sanctioned after WWII is not what they have been giving back to the Palestinians recently.

They aren't "giving" anything back. Be it property granted by the UN or seized during the 10 Day War, the Yom Kippur War, or any other conflict, Israel owes its existence as a nation to the interference of outside nations in the affairs of that area. I don't really care either way, but I do get a good laugh when Israel acts like they're giving away something they've owned for century upon century.

Gotcha, our feelings are different in this argument. If you win a war I think you own what you captured, you think it belongs to the people who whine about it more. Which is usually the losers.

Remind me how Israel got its status as an independent country. Oh, that's right. Whining and crying to the international community. I could go "capture" my neighbor's condo. It wouldn't make my claim thereto legitimate.

That's great! but not the same thing and I know you know better. You sir, are correct Israel gained their country back after WWII albeit not much whining so much as international guilt. Either way they took what was given to them and commanded more due to idiocy of their 'neighbors'.

Had the international community punished the actual wrongdoers at the end of World War II and made East Germany the Jewish state, we'd have none of these problems now.

I don't know what to say? I have the utmost respect for you but that was just a bad statement.

Maybe West Germany but not East.
