Casey Kelly (former recruit)

I couldn't think of anyone past then and just wanted to throw a name out there. Plus i got the answer right.

You said George Cafego. That is wrong. Here's a tip for when you take the SAT's in a few years. If you bubble in more than one answer on the scantron, you get the question wrong, even if one of the bubbles was the correct answer.

What do you guys think about this kid? I read an article on here that said he was 6 ft 4 inches and 205 lbs but then looked on rivals and they have him listed at 6 ft 1 inch and 192 lbs. Which is correct?

He has decent size, he plays hard and with passion. He played against good competition as well. I think it is a big signing.

Who led the team in receiving in 1914?

Either Goat Carroll or Graham Vowell. They were the starting ends on that team, and yes, Tennessee did pass the ball in 1914. Quite a bit, by the standards of the day, in fact.

That was the first of the three teams in UT history to post a perfect record against a full schedule, the others being in 1938 and 1998. They went 9-0 and won the SIAA title. In the football climate of that era, they were probably about where Boise State was when they went 12-0 in 2006. The best football was in the East, but the '14 Vols were mighty tough.

BTW, George Cafego played for UT from 1938-40. He wasn't even born yet in 1914.

It took a while in a thread about Casey Kelly, but you proved that a 14 year old doesn't know everything.

Now you can find another 14 year old that says he knows everything and prove him wrong too.

I wasn't really trying to discredit him. That was one of the few truly good UT teams before Neyland, that one and the 1916 team (8-0-1), and I've always found it interesting.

When UT beat Vanderbilt in 1914, the school cancelled classes the next day, and Vandy accused UT of an "over-emphasis on sports." Some things never change...

Who came in to replace Chuck Webb when he got hurt ?

Tony Thompson. Stepped into the lineup four games into the 1990 season and ended up winning the SEC rushing title. Saved our ass that season. Went over the top with less than a minute left in the '91 Sugar Bowl on the final play of his career to beat the Virginia Cadavers.

One of my all-time favorite UT football players.
