CBJ - History Homework

It would be nice to see if Butch can instill pride in the historical association of certain numbers with greatness at particular positions in Tennessee football history. The number "47," for example, was worn by both Dustin and Britton Colquitt. Dustin was an All-American punter in 2003 and Britton was a Freshman All-American in 2005. The number could be reserved exclusively for punters or held up as special incentive for punters who approach their stature on the field.

Because at the end of the day the athletes don't care. He is already doing enough things not sure why this was needed.

Not saying it's a terrible thing to do, but it's cheesy.

Well. They're on scholly for education and the right to represent. SO THEY NEED TO CARE! That's the problem that's being addressed. Come out of your me first world and care about the tradition, the university, the state, the students, teammates, coaches and fans. CARE!!!!!!! You might get pretty good if you care!

Not caring....now that's cheesy.

Well said! The "who cares/whatever attitude" sure has shown mediocrity in effort and results in the recent past and not in just football at UT.

I compare it to bring indoctrinated in the marines.. while they train u to be a marine they also make u know the history u represent without it when the rough gets going u know marines before over came etc n still won. That has to come from within or u fold. The vols have tended to fold..lol

Great analogy.

Dude doesn't like CBJ requiring players to know their number history. History has racism in it.

Truth is simple.

You have to look at history considering the society's values before you judge. People that call other people racist are stupid. It says you're too immature to move on from something that doesn't exist in humans... Biological races.

your post has pretty muched summed up the problems of today's America. You don't appreciate history, nor do you feel that you need to learn from it.

Are you serious? If all of America learns the former Vols by jersey number then America's problems will be solved. How do you know the poster does not appreciate history? Cheesy is not necessarily bad.
