You are all retarded. He should definitely wear the orange pants, but only for big games. Dooley did not originate the orange pants and I don't care who you are- when he first began wearing them you couldn't help but fear the pants.
You idiots need to get over Dooley and focus your attention on something that matters. Enough is enough.
I know this is a completely irrelevant off-season thread, so don;t flame me for that. I'm just interested to see what VN has to say about this.
Are you in favor of CBJ wearing the famous orange pants on the sideline?
Personally, I love them, and i'd like to see CBJ wearing them, especially if he can right the sinking ship while wearing them. However, I can also see those who are in the mindset that Dooley sullied the pants' image when he sucked in them. SO what do you think?
I'm surprised by the results so far!
The orange pants are great. We have great coaches who come in and add to our always growing tradition and we honor them by keeping these things alive. The pants weren't about Dooley. They weren't even about Majors. They were about Majors' desire to contribute to our pageantry. Same thing can be said with respect to Mears and the orange jacket.
He's a real football coach. He's prolly not going to do gimmicky stuff like the orange dog, orange pants, d day comparisons etc.... although was funny...Butch Jones doesn't come across as silly like Dooley.
You got that right, they are hideous. No man with any fashion sense would be caught dead in those disgusting things.
I agree that orange pants are not appropriate for the workplace. We are talking, however, about gameday coaches' regalia. As a cultural anthropologist who specializes in the stylistic analysis of material culture (yes, that includes clothing), I would argue that the only stylistic limitations intrinsic to wearing orange pants, within the context specified, are (1) the fact that only neutral colors (white, black or gray) will decently complement our shade of orange; and (2) does the coach have the guts to wear them?
Gruden suggested in an interview that he probably would not, stating that they were a little loud for his taste. Neither did Fulmer, who jettisoned the orange road pants for a far-too-drab color scheme consisting only of an orange Power T against unstriped white pants.
For any Tennessee fan or coach, I would suggest that, if you have the guts, wear orange pants. You will be loud and very proud. For the record, I too have a couple of pairs of orange Nike sideline-style windpants.

FTR, Dooley's wasn't wind pants, not even close to wind pants, his were closer to dress slacks than anything, and he looked like an idiot.
