CBJ says Pig is on track..

I certainly think he will contribute as Azzani wants 8-9 WRs rotating and he would certainly be one of those....but I just can't see him pushing ahead of Pearson. Jmo.

Didn't know that about Azzani

That would explain why we are taking so many receivers

Von is a bigger, faster, more dynamic player than Pig. Pig missed all of Spring and IMO will find himself starting at the bottom of the depth chart due to his "indiscretions" leading him to not be a part of the team this offseason. Finally, Pig is a good player, not a great player. Some have said he was the best WR on last year's team....that's kinda like being the smartest kid in summer school IMO. He can definitely help the receiving corps this year, help Azzani get to his goal of rotating 8-9 WRs .... but unless something catastrophic happens to Pearson, there's no way Pig starts at slot.

I agree. He has unrealized potential - that's it. He proved he could make a big play and just as quickly mess up with a fumble at the goal line of what could have been a game winning TD as well as an illegal block on what could have been a game winning TD by Dobbs against Vandy. Then he did whatever he did to nearly get kicked out of the program.

Down the depth chart until he proves otherwise. Hope he does - we could use all the help we can get.

This is great news!

I don't see how CBJ can keep him off the field, but where does he fit now? It appears the Pearson is our slot receiver based on his performance this spring. Last year, Pig had to be an all-over-the-field type threat, specifically short and mid range passing situations (of course occasionally the deep ball as well), but he seemed to be out of his element to a degree in some passing situations. I seem to remember his freshman year he was the screen pass play-maker. Dump it off and watch the magic happen. Does anyone else see him taking on a role to similar to that of his freshman year or Devrin Young's role last season? Short yardage, passing downs where we need a big play. That's just sort of how I see him contributing. I hope that makes some sense. Started to ramble a bit. Still am. GBO!

I don't remember too many screens but I remember sweeps and Pig getting tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Not of his fault,he had an idiot as a coach and a sorry OL.

That could be what I am remembering. Whoops. Maybe not that exact role...

Pig was hammered on more than a few occasions his freshman year. Glad he pulled through.

Pig will be on the field and Pig missing spring isn't that big of a deal. He hasn't forgot how to play football. It's not like he is a freshman and has never been through spring ball. VP still has to prove himself on the field and in the SEC. Pig already has. Pig may not start but he will be on the field in the 1st game.
I think VP has potential to be good but I think you see him and think he is going to be another CP. Don't count Pig out.

I think him missing the Spring and why he missed it is a big deal. I agree that pig will be on the field first game and I agree that he will contribute throughout the season. But he doesn't have the size, skills, speed, potential and possibly the hands that Pearson does

Agree. Seems like a really good kid and he's a good player who can help the team....win-win.

I support all of our football players and wish them success but I don't really think pig is a "good kid". I saw the people he hung out with when I was still in Knoxville and have heard stories from all types of sources about his questionable character. Everyone makes mistakes and I really hope he's learned from them but when I think of "really good kid" I think of Dobbs.

Wow, ok, hadn't heard those things. Either way, hope he gets back on the right track and if true, chooses his friends more wisely.

Very big for the depth of our receiving core. Pig can bring back the explosion we all know he has, but more than that he will make it harder for other receivers(Pearson,Malone) to get on the field until they are ready. He was our most consistent Wr last year i do expect North to take that role this year. WRU
I think pig will be the one looking for playing time, don't see him starting.

He will def be one of our top 5 Wrs this yesr no doubt. So that's a good get, He makes something out of nothing almost every time he gets the ball

He does? I'm still waiting on him to turn a 5 yd hitch into a 50 yd td. He's a good solid slot receiver and he's tough as nails, but it seems some on here want to make him into some All American that we can't do without. Again, good solid player, can make some tough catches, get some tough yards, but he's not a game breaker by any stretch .... Malone, Pearson and North are those guys IMO.

Seems to be very good news for the team and possibly the difference between us making a bowl game or not.
