CFP Scenarios (merged)

Yes…. We had our eye balls beat in. Truthfully Georgia could’ve put another 14 on us but chose to milk clock and go conservative. The score shows two possessions but the eyeballs do not. The voters will see that. However the teams we needed to lose lost tonight. There’s still hope. I’m happy with our season, but we are not in Georgias league.

Guys, if TCU loses which I think they surely will on the road soon, we are essentially locked in if we win out. Bama and Clemson losing were HUGE.
I agree with this. ACC should be out. I think a 1 loss PAC winner will get in. I think TCU is in if undefeated - out with a loss obviously.

In 2017, they left out a 2 loss Big10 Champ for a 1 loss SEC team that didn't win their division. Do we get that kind of treatment?

stop it. You are setting yourself up. the playoff wants money. You F'd up.

A win against bama and lsu with a road loss at the #1 team… compared to a pac 12 1 loss team? Clemson? A one loss TCU? A one loss usc team that looks dominant and an undefeated tcu scare me. But if TCU goes down it’s all on us at that point.

Guys if this was Alabama who lost to Georgia in the road we wouldn’t even be having this conversation

Style points? What are you even talking about? What “style points” did cincy have last year?
Look I get your point, in a perfect world LSU, UGA, and Tenn all get in if LSU wins out. But you’re getting all defensive when people point out that 3 teams from the same conference is highly unlikely, acting like we’re all saying YOU are leaving Tennessee out. Most posters would agree with you that 3 SEC should get in, but the fact of the matter is that that is the most unlikely scenario with an undefeated TCU/1 loss PAC 12 champion/1 loss Clemson. So if LSU gets in the playoff, Tennessee is most likely getting left out

Cincy got in because of the politics of the "little guy getting a shot".....

The CFP made it very clear.... For the all the disrespect TCU talks about, they aren't talking about the fact they needed all 4 quarters in back to back weeks to put away WVU and Texas Tech to win by 10 points.....TCU was ranked 7th because they are playing poor teams and not blowing them out. The CFP isn't going to give TCU higher rankings over the likes of Bama or Tennessee just for the 0 in the loss column. TCU has no team with less than 2 losses remaining on their schedule. They will play another 2 loss team in the Big 12 title game... Unless they start hanging 50 and winning by 20-30 points, they will only move up the ranking by other teams in front of then losing. Not because they are winning in convincing fashion. TCU likely moves into the Top 6 on Tuesday but it is more of Bama and Clemson losing, not because they beat Tech by 10 points.

This notion that TCU can just ho hum to a 13-0 record over a poor schedule and secure a playoff spot is hysterical... The CFP made that clear on Tuesday. I think they likely move up a spot this week, but would I be surprised if they got leaped by Oregon, LSU, USC? Of course not.

I just can’t see three SEC teams making it under your scenario. Those two losses (including one ass kicking at home) puts a ceiling in how high LSU can advance, imo, regardless of how strong they finish.

I think the LSU loss to Tennessee is being misunderstood as a reason to keep LSU out of the playoff in favor of Tennessee. I don't think the argument is going to be between Tennessee and LSU for the final spot. Especially if Tuesday's rankings have us still in top 4 at best or 5th at worst. There is strong case that if we are top 5 on Tuesday and we win out, we will be atleast 3rd or 4th going into the conference championship weekend. The best thing for us that we stay behind Michigan and Ohio State up the point they play each other.

I simply don't think if LSU goes 11-2, our playoff spot is a choice for the committee between 11-1 Tennessee and 11-2 LSU.

Now tell me how many of the CFP committee members from 2017 are still on the committee?

I don't know if any of you are suggesting this..but no team w 2 losses no matter who they lose to...is making it to playoffs.

Todd blackledge discussed this during the ohio state game. He was suggesting a two loss Alabama could get in. nobody believed him, as if it's never happened lol.

TN vs Georgia in a dome stadium, (takes weather out of the eqn) filled with hungry and loud TN fans is what I want to see. The defense did their part today and held them to 28 points.

Most likely Todd was thinking if Bama lost in Atlanta. But now he can exchange LSU for that.

Just don’t see three SEC teams. Another one loss P5 team would get the nod over LSU, imo.

Ga got conservative in the second half to milk clock. They likely could’ve put two more scores on us. The game was nowhere as close as the score indicates.

I think Kirby is a conservative coach and will go that way when he feels like the score is high enough. That kind of game plan will burn him one day when playing against a team that can score quick.

They don't have too but would be helpful. Honestly, I think Clemson is a lock to go 13-0.

Winner of Michigan / Ohio State will go 13-0

SEC will have 2 teams in the playoff and it will be as such:

13-0 UGA and 11-1 Tennessee OR 12-1 UGA and 12-1 Bama or Ole Miss (Disclaimer: I think there is no chance LSU wins tonight)
This didn't age too well👀

Thank goodness UGA beat Oregon way worse than us! It keeps us in the mix and maybe even good shot at making playoffs!
