Was watching the College Football playoff reveal, and one of the talking heads said that because Ohio State has been there so much in recent history, the Rose Bowl would take Penn State instead. They then explain that would leave Ohio State as the highest ranked Big Ten or SEC team left which would send them to the Orange. Bama, as the highest ranked SEC team, would go to the Sugar. That would leave UT as the last man standing and go to the Cotton against a G5 team. Can they even do that?? I thought there were rules about the Rose Bowl having to select the highest rated Big Ten team.

It’s all about positioning right now for Alabama and Ohio state. If Alabama were 7 right now, with a USC and TCU loss, Alabama couldn’t make the playoffs at 7, they can at 6! It’s the committees last ditch effort to get Alabama in the playoffs! Now let’s say USC and TCU win. The committee may put Tennessee at 6 in the final rankings ahead of Alabama. Absolutely a possibility

Diagnosis: BVS!

Relax...my advice is to start drinking heavily.

Trust me, I am a pre-med student.

If true, just shows, again, the Rose Bowl has been the biggest whore in college football. They claimed for years they were the stud bowl but 2 local schools left the PAC12 basically telling the RB “FU”. Now they’ll let their Big10 school opt out.

The CFP committee should tell the Rose Bowl “sit the F down, you’ll speak when asked”.

OSU been there so much in recent history? I don’t know what they are talking about. They have only been there twice in the last 4 years. That’s not a lot.

I heard that as well. I’m not sure that’s accurate though. Was under the impression the Rose was obligated to take the highest ranked Big 10
They definitely can make a deal with Orange Bowl. This would send Vols to Cotton Bowl. I'm not convinced that Orange Bowl wants Ohio State if Stroud and several players sit out bowl game.

At this point I’m hoping TCU and USC win. Keep Bama the hell outta there please.
Man I don’t even know what to think about all this anymore. Because keeping bama out the playoffs may send us to a hardly attractive cotton bowl against group of 5 opponent and I really don’t wanna see that happen to us.

Would be a major letdown that many on here will spin as a great thing.

I don’t think that they’re obligated, they just always do. The rose bowl website says they if a B10 or P12 team makes the playoff, the tournament of roses committee will “traditionally select the next highest ranked team” from that respective conference.
