Chances Worley could enter the draft?

I think I remember a guy named Brady that didn't play at all get drafted...

Then you remembered wrong. Brady started every game for Michigan in the 1998 and 1999 seasons.

In fact:

During his first full year as starter, he set Michigan records for most pass attempts and completions in a season (214). Brady was All-Big Ten honorable mention both seasons and team captain his senior year. The Wolverines won 20 of 25 games when he started and shared the Big Ten Conference title in 1998. Brady capped that season with a win over Arkansas in the Citrus Bowl. In the 1999 season, Brady led Michigan to an overtime win in the Orange Bowl over Alabama, throwing for 369 yards and four touchdowns.

Maybe you were thinking of Matt Cassel as far as "didn't play at all" in college.

BottomLine: he is a college player and not of NFL calibre. But as a VOL fan, what does that matter?

Bottom line: you're not an NFL coach or GM. You cannot predict the future. Therefore your statement is pure speculation and not a bottom line.

Brady was Michigan's starting QB each of his last 2 years.... played in 23 gms, threw 600+ passes, nearly 5,000 yds, 30 tds.

I understand your point, but maybe Brady isn't the best example. Matt Cassell might be a better one.

If you have used up all your eligibility--as Worley will have done after this year--you don't "enter" the draft. You're in it. Period.

If your question is whether he can be an NFL player...uh, sure he can. Let me tell you, he and I are great friends. If you'll give me $10,000, I'll talk to him and you can be his agent. How about that!!

Cashier's check? I will take one, but I'd rather have cash.

Unless you're an NFL scout yourself, you probably don't have any idea what NFL scouts are looking for. That isn't to say that I do either necessarily, but I do know this: the NFL drafts on future potential almost as much if not more than they do on present achievements. It's why guys who played junior varsity league competition in college like Blake Bortles and Dri Archer can still get drafted so high as opposed to proven, battle-tested commodities like Connor Shaw, Aaron Murray, etc.

Justin hasn't proved a whole lot in college, but there's some things to like about his game. For starters, at 6'4 and 225, he's a big boy. That's NFL-ready size right there. He's also an intelligent, mature, likable kid and a good leader in the locker room. If he can impress in chalkboard X&O sessions and in team interviews, continue to work with some of the QB guru types on his arm, and have a Crompton-esque senior season, it's entirely possible that someone could choose to give him a shot in the late rounds.

No it isn't.

Name G QBRat Att Comp Pct Yds Y/A Y/G TD Int Long
Justin Worley 8 117.4 196 109 55.6 1239 6.3 154.9 10 8 51

Ths is not the tale of even a good college QB let alone a future NFL QB. Me thinks the OP was having some fun with this thread. ;)

you do not get drafted into the NFL because you are a good "game manager". Those guys are a dime a dozen.....He needs a spectacular senior season.
Pretty much. Only one season, itself, will draw some concern. Above all, I think he has to show some arm strength. Having an average arm was one of the knocks on Matt Barkely, last year. And there isn't a high demand in the NFL for average armed pocket passers.

They say QB's in the league can improve that over time, so let's hope he's been able to develop that a bit more since last year.

Personally, I think it's going to be hard for Worley to beat Dobbs out for the starting job, this fall. He might get a chance to see what he can do in the Utah State opener, but I see Dobbs taking over before the OU game, if Worley isn't killing it on the field.

LMAO

McCarron was projected in the 2nd round and slipped to the 5th with his resume and we are talking about Worley being drafted?
Seems to me, McCarron was mistakenly assuming teams would line up to draft him, having a few NC's under his belt. He didn't play in the Senior Bowl nor throw at the combine...even though he was healthy. Bad call. THAT is what dropped his draft stock more than anything. The sense from teams that he was cocky and afraid to compete (against the other QB's in those venues).

Those are two golden chances to impress teams, and he blew them off.

I'm not saying he will get drafted but with all the new weapons around him Worley could be a lot better this season. Someone last year on one of the radio shows I think it was Dave Hooker was talking about how Worley could be a good college qb if he had the weapons around him. Well maybe now he does.
