What is going on with Channing Fugate. I thought he was very impressive as a blocking back and was a strong runner. Anyone know?

Fugate was our best player on special teams against Akron. He was always the first player down the field and around the ball on kickoff coverage.

Fugate may very well be one of the most overlooked players on this team. He's excelled at whatever they've asked him to do. Caught every pass thrown to him, be it only a few; turned both returns into positive yardage on kickoffs; is first to the return man this year on special teams....but he's never taken a handoff in the backfield and that's really what he's good at. Stanford, Illinois, Louisville and Western wanted him to carry the ball. He could really help Tennessee in a variety of positions. Remember he gained over 3000 yards in his junior year as a high school tailback, albeit in KY. But 3000 yards is a lot regardless. If he started as linebacker, he'd be one of team's leading tacklers; although he played safety in high school. He ran the wildcat some in high school--turned it into a 400 yard rushing game against a pretty good team. The SEC is quite different--but give him a chance for goodness sake.

Channing Fugate has been nothing but outstanding wherever he's been asked to play. He can help this team in a number of ways on defense as well as offense. Remarkably he's never taken a hand-off as a running back and yet that's probably how he could best help this team.

Channing Fugate was nothing but awful at FB, so that proves this wrong.

Tennessee couldn't even beat Kentucky last year with its inferior running game. Put the ball in Fugate's hand and see what happens.

Would just love to see Tennessee back to where it used to be...not struggling to beat Akron, Kentucky and Vandy

Here: (865) 974-1224......feel free to call and leave a message for our coaches that they need to play Fugate. I am sure they have overlooked him and could use your coaching help.

From what i remember he got too fat and was in Dooley's dog house for a while about something. Then they moved him to LB for depth. With the dancing jitter-bugs we currently have bouncing down the O line looking for a way to swing around the edge, we need to get this guy the rock and have him slam into the secondary. I remember a year or so ago he was quoted saying his job(fullback) was to bust through the line and "light people up" and that is what he loved to do! If he is going to stay at LB , then give the ball to Bartholamew and tell him to hit the hole. He is ripped and could light some folks up as well.

This^^^^^! Hell yeah, 3 & 1 when using him would most certainly result in a first down.

I thought Dooley said back in camp that C.F. was moved to provide depth at the LB. I also believe Fugate also played LB in h.s.

Click on jacks and find all his other posts. He has 27 posts dating back multiple years. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. ABOUT. FUGATE.

Dude, if you aren't his family member or lover, I am really thinking we might ought to warn the KPD about you. Super creepy.
