Chappelle's show

My buddy just saw Dave at the Laugh Factory in LA. It was a surprise guest appearance. He said it was depressing. He said Dave wasn't on his game and talked a lot about his problems. Dave might already be hurting for money. He also said that Dave didn't even have a prepared set, he was just winging it and talking to the crowd and stuff. Hearing this upsets me a lot. He even addressed my friend:

Dave: Nice watch, what is it?
Doug: Breitling for Bentley
Dave: Damn that's nice
Doug: This used to be your watch
Dave: I know, but then I quit my show
Doug: You should get another one
Dave: That's the thing, when you bail on a show, they don't give you another one

My buddy said his whole set was crap like that.

He's worth $35M even after the Comedy Central payback.

I'm sure that he's barred from production work for a period of time after leaving Comedy Central, but he'll be back with something, thereafter. Still, I don't think an impromptu "set" of rambling is out of his norm, especially in the interim.

Well that cheers me up a bit. $35 Million is so easy to blow for some people, though. He also smoked one cigarette after another for his entire set.

Bill Simmons had Jeff Ross as a guest on his podcast a week or so ago and they actually discussed Chappelle and the very show I think you are talking about. He's apparently just trying to spend some time on stage and be in front of an audience again, but doesn't really have a full act yet. If you want to listen to the whole thing go to Bill Simmons' page and load up the podcast with Jeff Ross. I think it's the third one from the top right now. The Chappelle talk starts around the 43:00 mark.

Boy George! Now that's a lad I'd hate to fight. She wears underwear with d*ck holes in'em.

That's most of what he does these days from what I hear.

Also, him screwing over the powers that be at CC (Viacom) are going to make it very difficult for him to get lucrative work for the rest of his life.

I think the best line ever on Chappelle show was:

"Well then confidentially, I am crazy...and I'll ****ing kill you."

What are your five favorite sketches from the show?

1. Black Bush
2. True Hollywood Stories-Prince
3. Clayton Bigsby
4. Player Hater's Ball
5. Tyrone Biggums in the classroom

Such a great show. I wish Dave would have made at least a couple more seasons of it.
