Watching this class develop similar to the Kiffin Classless Class of 09 (in terms of talent), I have been amazed at the lack of questionable character guys or even outright thugs that we had to take for the sake of talent. Jiffy Kiffy had some of us convinced that in order to get talent you had to take guys who were low character with bad track records. Lil Wayne and all that. Had to do it, it was a necessary evil.
I think Butch blew that notion out of the water since he's been there, and revealed that philosophy to simply be a reflection of a classless clown coach. Shouldn't be too surprised that a class' character reflects the character of the coach after all.
The geographic midpoint of Tennessee's 2014 class? For now, Riceville gets the honor | Evan's Eleven
So reading this article (above) made me think: perhaps getting out of South Florida is part of the difference? Florida may be a talent-rich state but there also seem to be a lot of character issues there as compared to certain other areas.
So why does it matter? I'm hoping it means this class has a much better chance of staying together, paying off, and rebuilding the culture the right way.
