Charlie Strong

How many have we brought in recently? Not many. Now compare our program to their's, historically.

2012 - LaDarrell McNeil and Drae Bowles
2011 - Tiny, DeAnthony Arnett
2010 - Michael Palardy, Jacques Smith, Matt Darr

Same timeframe, they brought in 2. We brought in above with our record and with less than stellar recruiting overall if the latest info about Dooley is to be believed.

Still don't see anything anywhere that indicates that Strong is a great recruiter. Will he be better at UT? Maybe. But there is nothing that says he is a sure thing.

So LWS according to Cliff Notes and TennFATZ on the Presser Tomorrow thread are saying that Fisher is out and Strong is the hire...

If it's true, I am pleased. Disappointed about Gruden, but definitely not disappointed if we get Strong.

Is UT a tougher job now than 10 years ago? Sure, with Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina clearly above us at this time times are tough. And no school from the SEC has a tougher permanent non-divisional opponent than we have with Alabama. But people act as if we will be battling Vandy for control of the lower half of the division. Tell me that's not f'd up. If Strong or Fisher are scared off by that then we don't want them.

SEC > Big East. Very simple.

And we actually had good recruiters on our staff.

Run along now.

Firstly, I wasn't responding to you.

Secondly, It is Louisville. The fact ANY AA's are coming into a Basketball school, in the Big East, in Kentucky, speaks volumes about Strong.

If y'all don't understand that, I really can't tell you anything else, because y'all aren't capable of grasping this concept or using logical thinking in any capacity.
The "Louisville is hard to recruit to" argument has been seriously disproven. Strong recruits at an average similar to Petrino, and only 7 spots higher on average than Kragthorpe. Even Kragthorpe can claim to sign 5 star guys over USC, Michigan, Florida, etc.

It is only logical to assume that Strong's recruiting ability at TN would be largely unknown.

If we get a good DC and are well coached I think we go 8-4 next year...IMO

I'm not sure I believe that at all. Hunter and CP are off to the draft based on Mel Kipers rankings having them in the first round.

That is alot of offense to replace and I'm not sure we do better than 7 - 5 at best. Remember, we also have Oregon on the schedule.

BS. You can't hold a conversation based on facts, just your opinion that everyone is supposed to fall into line with. You wanted to tell people to do their research, but when the research shows you don't have a clue you resort to childish remarks and the tired SEC is better crap.

The fact is Strong has NOT been proven to be a great recruiter. You can't do it. Stay in your little world and let the Big Boys talk now and just keep saying your mantra "Did too, did too" to yourself.

Recruiting at UL and UF are two COMPLETELY different things.

UF is in a talent laden state, and UL isn't. It's incredibly diffiicult to recruit at Louisville because no one wants to play in the Big East and Louisville isn't an attractive place to play football. The fact he's brought in All-Americans speaks volumes, IMO.

Well considering he was the guru of defense at Florida and Meyer was totally offensive, he was the catalyst of getting those defensive recruits and coaching them up

I dont't believe it is going to be Strong, and I don't have any sources. I just believe Strong hasn't talked to Tennessee because he said he hasn't.

Just seems like an honest guy to me.

Are you the same Burnie Veazey that played backup QB for the Vols in the late 90's? #5 I believe... Just curious.

Some guy posted in the cliff notes that a presser for strong was either today or tomorrow..his link was the offical website(go cards) and i looked at it and it got deleted by the mods...anybody know what happened? or have info

I direct you to post #1816.

The fact is, Strong just took UL to a BCS bowl in his third year, after taking over an awful situation.

He's proven he's a great recruiter at SEC schools. And guess what? WE'RE IN THE SEC. What a revelation.

Strong's the guy. Like it, or leave it. Just don't come back when he finds success here.

He's protecting his current job. Hubbs speaks in absolute certainty that he's be interviewed.

You can't trust coaches at this time. They're almost forced to lie to reporters.

It was a link to an article from 2009. The guy didn't see the date before he posted it.

I'll tell you the one thing that makes me nervous about Strong -- the number of rival fans saying what a great hire he would be. When Gruden was the talk of the town, it was all about how he couldn't transition to the college game, couldn't deal with kids, etc. Now that it's looking like Strong, most of them are pleased as punch.

That gives me pause. Otherwise I think he is a really good hire.
