Charlie Strong

I initially read your post to say he's brought in African Americans...my reaction was...wow...racist and ignorant... Turns out I was just jumping to conclusions based upon the posts of other, "less informed" posters on this board...you actually made an intelligent, thought out post. And I agree with it wholeheartedly. You just earned yourself a like.

:hi:

Not mine ... I am not sold ... recruiting is suspect and his depth of schedule leaves to be admired. The only reasons I have heard from people that want him is that he coached at Florida. If he was that awesome coach and recruiter I would have seen Florida keeping him.

He left Florida to become HC, Urban was still coaching when he left.

Recruiting is suspect? Well done, sir. Excellent point. <sarcasm>

The guy is coaching at LOUISVILLE, they are not a horrible program but how many kids really want to play in the Big East for Louisville?

With the resources he would have at his disposal at UT, he would KILL IT on the recruiting trail. Add Jay Graham, possibly try and get Tee back home.......SICKKK.

Recruiting is far from suspect. Look and see when he is hired how many big name recruits we land. He can recruit.

In his Conference Rutgers and Pitt are both out recruiting him.

You realize he only has a few scholarships to give out, right? They have 9 commits and only have a few more spots left this year because there are so few seniors graduating.

He has brought in some quality kids, especially for Louisville. Not to mention the talk of many of our recruits saying they will jump on if he is hired.

He has experience in the SEC, every Florida fan will tell you he was their best recruiter, and there is a great chance he will be able to retain Graham and Pittman while also adding Tee Martin. Add in a good defensive staff and I am more than happy with the hire.

Skeeter and LWS saying Strong all the way...Skeeter said an offer is coming and LWS speaks as he is assuming one has already been made. Says expect news soon. Real Soon...

This!!! Strong would be great, let's get behind this possibility, and give him a great staff...

Recruiting at UL and UF are two COMPLETELY different things.

UF is in a talent laden state, and UL isn't. It's incredibly diffiicult to recruit at Louisville because no one wants to play in the Big East and Louisville isn't an attractive place to play football. The fact he's brought in All-Americans speaks volumes, IMO.

Who are these All-Americans you speak of?

To name a few from the past
Deion Branch
Mark Clayton
Michael Bush
Tom Jackson
Johnny Unitas

Two fairly talent rich states, and much more so than KY. We all knock on TN high school talent, come check out KY, its pitiful. The few good ones get out, i.e. Stocker, Fugate, Dawson, Hatcher etc. Outside of Trinity and Highlands there's little to nothing.

Example, Trinity won the 6A title Saturday night by a score of 61-7 over a team that was 14-0. Granted Trinity is a national machine but to lose like that in a state final shows where most of the "talent" in this state matches up to the big boys.

I have asked the same question several times...no response as of yet. I even gave them the names of 2 U.S. Army All Americans that came to Louisville, but haven't been able to find ALL those All Americans he speaks of. Good luck with getting an answer.

I hope so....of course the larry info in the cliff notes is a supposed forwarded email. Don't know if we can trust that

agreed, but Strong is one of the top 5 guys I would get really excited about if we hired him. I just want the search to end, so this craziness will be over...
