I'd take Davis over Strong.
I think Strong will recruit well and Louisville's record has improved by two games each year he has been there. I will be very interested to see they do against FL, however they dont exactly have the same caliber of players as FL.
Gruden: fantasy land (joke)
Stoops: not going to happen
Peterson: pipe dream
Patterson: comfortable at TCU
Fisher: withdrew name
Gundy: same team as this year. Great offense, no defense. Should've kept Dooley
Fedora: may not want to so to UNC like Kiffin at UT
Smart: no experience as a HC
Butch Jones: no thank you
Strong: good recruiter, good DC, SEC roots and with the right OC, he could be successful.
Briles and Swinney are names I have heard mentioned.
Who else out there could UT legitimately get to lead the program that is better? I don't think Hart can make everyone happy with his hire no matter who it is. I honestly thought Hart would have someone already in mind before he fired Dooley but I guess he didn't. I am ok with Strong as HC.

If integrity is an underlying factor that the next coach must possess then we just as soon get Bobby Petrino as to Butch Davis. Even if it was all blown out of proportion at UNC, Davis still got fired for it. There must have been strong evidence to support the chancellor's cause. I believe Dave Hart is looking for a young, qualified HC that can rebuild this program and stay here for a long time. Charlie Strong fits this mold. Is he my first choice? No. But, he probably wasn't Hart's either. He is working his way down the list. Truth is, Tennessee fans will not be happy with this hire no matter who the guy is, simply because he is not Jon Gruden. They set themselves up for disappoint and it really is a sad deal. As a fan base, we all need to come together and support the next coach regardless of who it is. Do it in the name of "It's an upgrade over Derek Dooley" if nothing else.

really...he is a proven WINNER in the BIG 12 and you compare him to Dooley.....just lost all credibility...smh
Strong has some big time people backing him up, including Saban! Anybody want to guess who said those things about Strong?
="He's a great coach and a hard-working guy. He was always a very good recruiter in college, which I think is paramount if you're going to have success as a coach. I think he has all the right ingredients to be successful as a head coach."
=Ties to the SEC, strong recruiter
= spoke to a few guys on staff who worked with him and said this hire scares them more than any other they heard about us. This guy is going to be good.
A Nick Saban endorsement means nothing to me---he was complimentary to Dooley this season too after he pummeled us. I hate Saban and his smugness.
