“I’m sure this comes from a place that is well-intended, but it does not honor us by having our name plastered on the side of a car,” Chief Chuck Hoskin said.

I respect their opinion and I started to wonder how they feel about Cherokee Blvd. in Sequoyah Hills, Knoxville?

They’ve apparently been pondering this a while. Jeep has used that model name since 1974, so they’ve pondered it for 46 years.

Glad they finally “woke” up.

So now their history will die in obscurity.

No problem. I agree and think all reference to Indian heritage be removed. Congrats.

Bye.
And what did you learn about their tribes history from a car?

Really I want to know.

Is it made at their old tribal ground, or made with pieces of their history that you read on long drives? Or is it just a car?

That's not really the point now is it.

So should they still be receiving exemptions to run gambling establishments? Isn't that 'racist'?

The point is, keeping a name that Native Americans have asked to be removed, does the opposite of honoring them?

You were the one who brought up history. They didnt want to be associated with a car.

Not sure why you are bringing up casinos, most of them are as white as you and me so not sure why you want it to be a racist thing.

Just say "meh" and move on.

More than if there was no name. The fact that those names have connotation of strength, toughness reliability. They should be proud to have their names on it

Because as Indians they get special exemptions to run casinos in places where you or I could not. Therefore, racist.

And they decided they werent. They have the freedom to do that.

Your connotations are more derived from commercials than the name.

Oh, and about that exemption thingy for casinos...?

Agree. Next thing to do is change the name of the state, roads, towns, rivers and lakes, mountains, etc., etc. Just wipe it clean and act like they never existed.
