I can't believe this matters to anybody at this point.

It obviously mattered enough to Obama to take the time to make the presentation in person. The fact that Chicago was so quickly dismissed is a story. Had Obama secured the bid it would have been attributed to his having gone to makes his case and swayed the IOC. Since it didn't shake out that way shouldn't the failure to secure the bid fall on his shoulders as well?

On a brighter note....I'm sure the costumes (and scenery) will be much better in Rio.

Obama is reaping what he's sown. Perhaps if he had not traipsed about the world apologizing for all of America's perceived ills, but rather used those occasions to highlight American Exceptionalism, the vote would have been different.

After all, would you move to a city if the mayor traveled to half the country and badmouthed his city as a haven for criminals and other miscreants?

Very good point!

Ok, well clearly this thread is about mindless bashing of the President. I didn't really support him going to Chi-town to campaign for the Olympics, but this might be a bit over the top.

Yeah right.

Imagine if this had been Bush trying to get the Olympics for Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. If he had failed as terribly as Obama, there would be an outrage from the left.
I'm sure the following would have been said.........

1. He's producing Global Warming from the use of Air Force 1.

2. He lost because he's to dumb to articulate.

3. The world hates us.

4. It's his fault because of the war.

5. It's a war for oil.

6. Bush lied.

7. Bush is an idiot.

Been to Chicago several times for work. Never would I go on my own dime. Never.

what dont you like about it? Chicago is an amazing town. Obviously it has its problems, but I think its a really great place to visit... although not so much in the winter.

I think the main reason the ioc went the way they did is because you had the games in Atlanta not so long ago. South America have never had an olympic games.

Chicago has more than it's fair share of problems. The politicians there run the city more like an organized crime family than a government. The problems start there and work their way down. The police are just as bad as the politicians.

In case you couldn't tell I do not care for Chicago at all. This is my opinion from several trips taken there dating back to 1998.
