Looking like the CCP is willing to kill the golden goose, Hong Kong, in an attempt to control it. Banking will flee to Singapore, international investments will stop and then recede and it will be war in the streets for a few years. After having a business there for many years I am shocked that the Hong Kong police would treat their own people in this way, they are Hong Kong citizens. I was sure many would quit the police force refusing to batter the residents, and at the same time, loose their freedoms. But they did!

From watching the latest protest videos it looks like the HK police have dramatically changed their tactics, compared to pre-covid protests. These last few days they have immediately attacked any sign of protest with tear gas, pepper spray and pepper bullets of some kind. Anyone who aggressively responds is beaten with clubs and arrested, even women and the elderly. In the past they let them protest, as is their right, and attacked those who attacked them. This is a complete reversal and it looks like protest of any kind will not be tolerated. It also looks like the HK police have twice as many men on the ground as before, probably Chinese military. I know they did not recruit that many new officers from the community, who would join. The free countries of the world need to get together and give them some political clout or they are finished. A real police state.

China was always going to use this as control. An excuse to get them off the streets and it's hard for them to build momentum back.

And if it is they have been stealing our intellectual properties for years. China has been setting up pro Chinese curriculum in many universities in terms of grants.. Those universities will gladly accept any money from any Communist

Honestly from my own experience Anglo/Western educated engineers in general are just better at abstraction of ideas. It’s easier for us to think outside the box which is a big enabler for innovation. The Asians are beasts at replication and production efficiency always have been. The Anglos are better at innovation.

I’ve said this to several engineers and MDs even over the years of other nationality and they always tend to agree. Reason I bring up the MDs is they seem to feel the same way.

We've had this discussion before. The bottom line is Asians suck at innovation, but they excel at refining things because they want everyone to agree so they are sure.
The Chinese are getting ready to experience reality once the western world gives them the middle finger.
