Chip Brown report: Texas A&M to the SEC

Mizzou is in columbia near the center of the state

right, now I might have misunderstood their setup, but I think they work kind of like memphis does for us; I need to reread everything to be completely certain

But I do know that a whole lot of analysts were saying that Big ten taking Mizzou would have given them complete control of the STL market and would also give the Big 10 Kansas city's market

Columbia to KC: about 125 miles
Fayetteville (AR) to KC: 237 mi (so about double)

KSU is about 121 miles from KC (but in a different state)

Lawrence is really close, so I imagine Kansas still gets into KC's market some....but I don't think they have a greater control due to not being in state....I'd have to read/research into that one more

Good deal. Are you at Wash U

I have no idea. If I had to guess potential schools, I would guess Missouri, Va Tech, FSU, Miami, Clemson, and Ga Tech as some schools of interest.I wouldn't count out wildcards such as Louisville and West Virginia either.

ESPN is reporting that the SEC wouldn't target any ACC schools ,but their reports of this ongoing conference realignment haven't been exactly reliable. I trust Chip Brown more than the ESPN guys (Schad, Feldman).

If you are wanting to expand evenly, then a school from the east makes more sense, or you move a West Div. school to the East (Auburn?) to add Missouri. I would rather have FSU, Miami or GA Tech, although old wounds may not be healed enough to readmit Ga Tech.

whoopeee. so does this mean we can jettison a school from the sec (vandy, miss st., usc jr.)? i wouldn't mind us taking an acc school before we take on another team that is not geographically in the southeast. i don't really want texas, ou, or another top 5 team that we have to deal with on a regular basis. with that being said i am not exactly thrilled to get a&M.

There are so many scenarios on this issue. I've been following this the past few days ,and there is always something new coming up. I do agree though that a school such as Auburn could shift east to make room for another Big 12 school.

rumors in aggie land are that a&m to SEC is a done deal and will be announced tues. I'd be ecstatic if that were true

A&M is a tradition rich program that fits in well with the SEC. Their fans also travel well, and if we have to add teams, this is certainly one of my top choices for expansion. Much better than a UNC or Duke, or even a t.u.

....and all of their fans know that we're the real UT and texas is just t.u. Another plus. So high five, them.

Funny how this is playing out. A few weeks ago I would have thought Texas and Texas A&M's interests were more closely aligned than those of Texas and Oklahoma.

Meh. Not nearly on the same level as Nebraska, Texas, or Oklahoma. I don't see them getting good any time soon, either.

I'm not excited about any of this. I want no part of Texas and OU, and adding anybody else does nothing for the SEC.

If the pac whatever ends up with 2 bids, we had to do this.

If they don't, it expands our domain.

..I like it.
