Heard that this is very close to ...announcement as early as tomorrow.

I also understand that Tony Dungy recommended CK to Bryan and Ed Glazer.

Yeah, Jim Caldwell was a brilliant recommendation from Dungy. Caldwell is probably one of the five worst coaches to make it in the Super Bowl.

Be that as it may...Bryan and Ed have a lot of respect for Tony Dungy. TD said he had no interest in returning so they brought TD on board as a consultant.

CK never struck me as a particularly good coach. He just picked up where Bellotti left off and benefited from Phil Knight dumping as much money as he did into the program.

I wonder why he's jumping ship to the NFL?

"Kelly is intrigued by the challenge of coaching at the highest level and not having to deal with parents and the NCAA oversights that are inherent to coaching in college." - Source told Joe Schad ESPN.

I'm not sure I understand this thread. Is he going to be Jon Gruden's OC? That's an awesome hire. Some of you seem to think he's taking Gruden's place as HC? The Glazers would never get rid of him.

Chip Kelly turns down the Bucs job & is staying at Oregon. In related St Pete news, Willie Lyles & Vinnie Testaverde just made a U-Turn.

It appears Chip has had a change of heart.

I don't see Kelly's offense being to successful at the highest level. I find it hard to imagine that working against elite guys on defense. The only way I would consider leaving the college game if I was Chip Kelly was if I thought the NCAA was coming for me, which I'm not sure they aren't.
