I don't think the prep school route really hurts with a dt since they almost always need a year to physically mature. I would like his commit so we could steer him to hargrave. Its always been my understanding thathargrave kind of encourages guy to stick with their original commitment.

From the South Carolina site. Bonds had another good visit to South Carolina, and enjoyed talking to the other top SC kids there. He is planning on taking official visits to Notre Dame (vs Michigan), Tennessee (vs Alabama) and Alabama (vs Auburn). He also plans to visit Michigan and Southern Cal in the offseason and take multiple unofficial visits to South Carolina this fall.
The kid has been coming to our practices since he was in the 9th grade. He comes to just about every home game and wears Gamecock gear to his high school. His parents think of our coaching staff as family and Bonds calls David Reaves like he is his girlfriend. I know that every traditional power program believes that just because they offered a kid they automatically become the front runner. I can assure you that Bonds mother will not let him go to Southern Cal. She has made it very clear and he agrees, that she wants to be able to come to his games. UT is the only real competition for Bonds and that is because his sister is going there to play softball. The kid is going to take his visits for fun, probably cancel Michgan or Bama and take one to us, and then commit to South Carolina sometime in late January. I am willing to sig bet anyone on this board if you really think you will land him.
It will come down to Alabama, South Carolina, and UT.
Saban has been recruiting him really hard and he loves Bama.
USC has a big need for DTs and its close to home. He loves Spurrier.
I'm not sure what this kids deciding factors are or will be but if its based solely on playing time then I would put UT and USC in a dead heat...
We don't exactly have any studs here right now(D Williams is stepping up though) and next year Williams will be the only lock to start at DT...
You'll notice we've made a push lately on DT's and I think linemen(especially d-linemen) will be our major focus from here on out
