Chris Carter's new "X-Files"

Just watched it and....I don't think I could disagree with you more. That was a classic monster of the week episode and I thought it was great. I'm really not sure why you had such a problem with it if you're a big X-File fan, that was in line with standard ones.

That wasn't even close to one of the worst episodes ever.

I liked the "what was a monster" twist. I thought Rhys Darby was great.

Personally, I've loved this revival. I'm glad it's done well enough that they're likely going to make more.

I'm a big X Files fan and that was just plain bad from start to finish. From the guys huffing paint to the bad costume/make-up of the "were wolf" and the off-beat but still trying way too hard to be funny dialogue, it was almost sad to watch. Really disappointing.

That episode was creative actually. You might be a little young to remember the X Files series.

I haven't caught up with the final episodes but so far I'm liking it.

The last one was a bit strange, going from a serious subject to a bit zany, but I thought the Mulder drug trip was quite hilarious.

My only complaint is

The word before it came out that the Lone Gunmen would make an appearance though they made it clear they weren't necessarily bringing them back from the dead. So it was pretty lame IMHO when it turns out all it turned out to be was a 3 second cameo during Mulder's drug trip. If you blinked you'd miss them. Quite the disappointment.

Dude, has David Duchovny always been this terrible in delivering dialogue?? He was speaking his lines like a drugged up rehab patient in the first episode. (I haven't seen him in anything for years)

The first episode he was off. But every one since he's basically been the same as he was in the old episodes.

To me the season started off with Duchovny acting weird but as each episode progresses he seems to be slowly getting back into his original groove. I think that might have been how this little thing was planned.

They did mention his depression and how he was on medication at one point.

I have a feeling that they're testing the waters with the audience regarding an X Files audience and that if they continue it'll be with the two new agents they've introduced and not Mulder and Scully.

That would be crazy stupid. They already tried that with half of season 8 and all of season 9 and it was a failure. Nobody wants to see anyone but Mulder and Scully.

As far as the finale.....I thought it was pretty meh. Overall I liked the revival but they need to do more than 6 episodes. They tried to cram way too much into the finale.

I look forward to season 11. I felt this was a testing of the waters with the original cast as well as including some new blood. I feel though that whomever replaces Mulder must be a bit more charismatic that Agent Miller.

I'm pretty sure Chris Carter learned his lesson about trying to replace Mulder and Scully the first time around.

There will be no "replacing" Mulder. They might do a spinoff or something, but the main X-Files will forever be Mulder and Scully from now on.

Just saying ...Duchovy is 55 which would mean he is eligible to retire from the FBI...Anderson has a few more years left before she is eligible....

Side note..has anyone ever heard Gillian Anderson talk in an interview outside of America? She grew up in England and when she is there she lets the old accent out..not so much in the US..

At Fox’s upfront press call, Fox TV Group chairmans Dana Walden and Gary Newman sounded very optimistic when asked about plans for another installment of The X-Files event series.

“We have had conversations with (creator) Chris Carter and (stars) David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson,” Walden said. “I believe everyone is on board to do another installment of the show.”

Noting that all key auspices are scattered around the world working in different locations, she said that “hopefully this season we will be able to get it done and that the same time next year (May), we will have something to announce.”

Newman later elaborated a bit, saying that the discussions with Carter, Duchovny and Anderson have included talks about “what kind of episodic order makes sense. Some of that is driven by schedules,” he said. “Conversations are ongoing. I can tell you that all of them would like to do more of these, and certainly the network and studio want to do more,” noting that the next installment is tentatively eyed for the 2017-18 season.

With strong VOD performance — The X-Files was the second-most-watched Fox program on VOD last season behind Empire — the event series, from 20th TV, was one of Fox’s top programs last season.

Their Back!

After all the teasing and complex corporate conversations, the truth is finally out there today – The X-Files is coming back for the 2017-2018 season.

Just over three years after the last revival of the Chris Carter created series was announced, Fox said Thursday that a new 10-episode run of the Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny-starrer is set to start production this summer.

“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” said Fox Broadcasting Company Prez David Madden today. “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

Technically, the 11th season of The X-Files, this new run will air on Fox’s schedule either later this year or early next year. Starting off with strong ratings, the six-episode last revival of the FBI conspiracy and alien tracking drama debuted on January 24, 2016 on the very revival friendly FOX. In my review of 2016 The X-Files revival, I said the latest show was “strikingly serious and silly at the same time, the six episodes are actually a lot like the original X-Files — you either go with it or you don’t.” I added, in my video review that, “and if you want to believe (to paraphrase the poster Duchovy’s Fox Mulder had up in the duo’s FBI HQ basement office in the original series), this X-Files is well worth opening up.”

Having spawned a couple of movie and a new recently revealed audio production, the original X-Files TV show ran from 1993 to 2002, with Duchovny stepping back as the obsessed Agent Mulder in Season 8.

With today’s news, this will prove a very busy 2017 for Anderson, who also has a pivotal role as the god Media in the first season of Starz’s April 30 debuting American Gods.

Really I thought he was back pretty spot on as Mulder! (especially in Ep. 2) It was Gillian that bothered me. I'm not sure what happened to her voice but it isn't the same.

Not a fan of her looks anymore either. She's taken on a "horse" look as she's gotten older and straightened her hair.
