Chris Doering infuriated by Peter Burns

Napier can’t just out talent teams anymore, he was an awful play caller in the sunbelt too just rarely paid the price for it. As far as Doering, he got really fired up when Burns said he thought we would be a 14 pt favorite too, contingent on us blowing uva out.
I’ve been saying this since his last two Ragin’ Cajun seasons!!! He is a bonehead in game! He’s B&tchJones, Beldar Cornbred, and ‘Britches all in one!!!! I hope his recruiting “gives” him another year or two!!! 😂

Fans need to understand that our football team is going to face what our basevols did last season. They had to carry the burden of memories of the previous years team and their success. Every team...and I mean every team...on the schedule had the Vols circled on their calendars. We got everyone's best shot but especially those elite programs we made to feel threatened. You better believe UF, UGA and Bama will all bring something extra when they play us. Joe and the boys better tighten dem chin straps and be ready from the jump on a week in and week out basis. We won't catch anyone by surprise this year. For better or worse, UT is once again a marked program. Everybody wants a piece of us.
They can circle it, underline it, and put a star next to it. We're flat out better in all 3 phases. No way we should lose that game.

Christ Doering was infuriated by a conversation he was having with Peter Burns this morning on the SEC Network. Burns told Doering that he should hope that the Gators will not be embarrassed in a couple of weeks when the Vols play in Gainesville . Doering screamed "embarrassed"?........Why do you think the Gators will be embarrassed? "The Vols haven't even played a game yet?" Burns said "Yeah, but the Gators have" BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!
Should’ve said “neither have the gators”

They had an elite qb that obviously suffered from some very bad play calling. But he basically carried their whole team last year
And they went 6-7 with a top 5 pick QB carrying them. How they think they're taking a step forward with a Big 10 QB who had 33 turnovers in 32 starts is beyond me

Napier continues to make questionable calls/decisions and Heupel a clear advantage for the Vols. Why he went for 2 after scoring to make it 24-9 is beyond me. Sure they made it to get to 24-11. But at that point you just kick the EP to make it 24-10. Don't make it and you kill any momentum you gained with the TD. And their ineptness on 3rd and 4th downs can be attributed significantly to the play calling.
And complete lack of a running game

Carried them all the way to a 6-7 record. They do not deserve to be mentioned alongside Georgia and Bama. They were bad last year.

I’m not disagreeing, but you said nothing about their team last year was elite. They technically were but only in one (important) area. AR certainly gave them a fighting chance in games that they would have lost or been destroyed otherwise without him.

Agreed. Saw one Florida fan comment that Tennessee was going to be “Mertzed” this year. I just rolled my eyes unless they meant Tennessee was going to be Mertzed in that we get handed the ball back a lot

Its a little deceiving to call him a top 5 pick implying he was a good college qb. He wasnt
No he wasn't I agree. But he was an athletic freak who went top 5 on pure potential that UF wasted. No way they couldn't make the offense click with him and do better with Graham Mertz

That conversion call was unusual for sure. I’m sure they have charts that tell you when to go for two but they didn’t question the decision once it was successful. Reminded me of a Butch Jones kind of call.

He goes for 2 like he's playing Madden online. Can't wait for the 4th and 24 attempts to start lol

Reminds me of Butch. Plays checkers in the moment…whereas a good coach is playing chess and planning one yo two scores ahead.

After we drop a 50-burger on them, I hope Heupel leaves an upper-decker in Napiers office bathroom…and sends a picture of it to Doering.
Thanks for the college memories. I haven’t thought about or heard the term upper decker used in years.
