Chris Lofton ESPN short story

I just watched it. What a great documentary and story. Great to feature both Bruce Pearl and Rick Barnes in addition to bringing in Chris’s faith in God and his parents. Never more proud that he represented University of Tennessee and the state of Tennessee. As someone who had his wife of 38 years pass from her breast cancer in 2024, I can relate. I think Chris’s words “we all face storms in our lives, you’re either going into one, in the middle of one, or leaving one” are so true but it’s your faith and trust in God that helps you in those storms.
Condolences on the passing of your wife, friend.

I seem to have more of a soft spot for Hamilton and Pearl after watching. For Hamilton, regardless of his hires, he was a good person. For Pearl, the guy brings energy and passion. I couldn’t help but laugh seeing him rip off his shirt in the locker room.

Mike Hamilton was a good man and was good to see his interview for this show. He died at the University of Colorado Medical Center after a liver transplant.

Glad to see that they got it right! Kentucky passed on him & ended up regretting it! He worked his way to the TOP. I watched Chris Lofton (many times) single-handedly put the team on his back & just “refuse” to lose!
— And even after his cancer diagnosis & treatment, he was still the leader of the team. People can imagine “what might have been…” but it’s best to just appreciate what “HE DID”! He led the way for what Tennessee basketball is NOW. (Course, Bruce Pearl helped, too)

— Definitely a VOL FOR LIFE!

Just watching this documentary and tribute to Chris Lofton will bring tears to your eyes if you’re not careful. I knew the guy was a special player and was instrumental in bringing TN basketball back as a recognizable figure, but what warms your heart was the type of man he was and how everyone would want their kids to pattern their life after. Awesome story which makes you proud to follow UT sports
