Chris Lofton leaves Russian team

I don't think he was fond of the system, playing much and getting many shots. My source in Russia is pretty solid. Opulence, he has it.

His agent has made lots of folks lots of money. If Chris was not injured this trip to Russia would have ended very differently.

His agent is an idiot.
It's Jared Karnes' fault that Lofton is too slow and short to play in the NBA and has to take a good paycheck where he can find it? I'll take a wild guess and say you don't have the faintest clue in the salary difference between the NBDL and one of the elite Euro leagues.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm assuming its like hockey and playing in a Euro A-League is better than a shelf stockers wage in the AHL

I understand that NBDL players make on average of 25-30,000 a season and Euro makes about 10x that but I feel Karnes could have gotten Lofton on a better team in a better situation. Your right its not his fault that Lofton is too slow to play in the NBA but with him playing solid in the d league he would have gotten a little bit better exposure from the NBA.

Yeah, I'm sure Jared didn't do his due diligence and see if there was any imminent NBA interest in Lofton before he signed him to Russia. Good point.

Do not ask Hat about salaries overseas.

The first bad blood between us was because I said I wish there was a Turkish league equivalent in football for D Morley because he would be a millionaire. Hat said "No one makes millions in the Turkish league." When I linked to an article showing a guy making millions in the Turkish league it started a path of recognizing that although he makes factually incorrect assertions a good bit, he will not admit when he is completely wrong.

The fact is Lofton is unable to get open enough to be a scorer, too short to be a shooting guard, and too slow to be a point guard. However, I'm hoping he can find somewhere he is not only a good fit, but also making a good paycheck.

I think if JJ Reddick can make it Chris Lofton has a shot, Reddick is not much taller and is not quicker. So can someone tell me why if JJ can make it Chris cannot?

Reddick is bigger, stronger, quicker, and a better ballhandler.

JJ Redick has at least 2-3 inches more in size, is able to dribble through traffic better, and is able to get himself open.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first 3. Neither are good ballhandlers in my opinion. Redick separates himself from Lofton with the first three attributes you mentioned coupled with his ability to catch and shoot off screens. He is excellent at that.

But he's white. I think Lofton v. Reddick has been going on since I joined VN. Jj can shoot and be average-ish at the other things to be serviceable in his role. Chris isn't.

I do question 1 thing. If Lofton hadn't developed cancer and instead used that treatment time to develop his ballhandling, could that upgrade alone have gotten him a role as a backup PG, or were the rest of his mediocre skills too glaring, still?

He could have never guarded a 1 in the League. Just imagine Lofton trying to kick up with Rondo, Rose, Williams. Hell, I'm not sure he could guard back up 1s like CJ Watson either.

I agree. I meant more like that 1 PG that never plays ever, but sits on the bench of every team.

Lofton and Rashad Anderson from UC are a good comparison, both prolific college scorers without the ability to create for themselves or fill another niche at the next level.

Exactly. As much as I love the guy, any GM would be crazy to have a guy on the court playing meaninful minutes guarding those names.
