Most of people's reaction had to do with the rejections. Hart did not look good in this process.

Watching the press conference and doing a little research on Butch will do wonders for folks.

As I recall, no one said Dooley was a great hire, at the time. Not outright critical, really either. I think it was a head scratcher for most, including myself. I'm okay with coach Jones. Like his energy. Let's see what he can do!

If Butch Jones was such an upper tier hire then why wasn't he sought out by upper tier teams. We beat out Colorado and Purdue for goodness sake. Butch Jones deserves a chance. Tennessee where all new up and comers come to get their shot.

This. I think people are just as pissed we got in a bidding war with Louisville and were rejected too. Tough to stomach when you think your program should be everyone's first choice but it's reality especially when said program is broke.

I like the hire but we should have made this hire when Kiffin left. It's just hard to wait through another "experiment" when we had to endure 3 years of an "experiment" type coach already. The fans wanted a high profile name, and they didn't get it. However, we could have got a diamond in the rough for sure.

This guy has the type of mentality that motivates players. He reeks of it. Listening to Dooley just kinda felt like gettin the life sucked outta ya.

Just watched the press conference for the second time. I think its a good hire. I never really like the Gundy talk. And Strong was OK but not really what I want at Tennessee. Butch came from left field but after watching his press conference. That's what Tennessee needs a good coach fired up about coming to UT. I think he will build his team around the players we have and not try to run packages that are made for a certain type of players. I will say I am glad to have you Coach Jones. Now lets go kick some SEC tail. VFL. It's Great to be a Tennessee Vol.:welcome3:

Come on ........ Do a little research before you judge cbj ..... The man has done nothing but win CHAMPIONSHIPS every where he has coached ...... So if you remotely compare this hire to dooley you are way off the mark....... Imo....... Go watch the video of cbj talking to the Tennessee team ..... He is a fricken winner ........ Dooley was a bottom feeder looser ......... I've heard more championship talk from cbj in 2 days than dooley said in 3 years.... I personally think he will do great here ........imo

No kidding. Hart didn't target Jones. Jones called UT after Strong went back on his acceptance. If Jones works out, Hart was LUCKY. I also read about Jones being blown away with everything when UC visited Neyland Stadium in 2011. That game probably had a lot to do with Jones targeting us.

There was no better available job than Tennessee this year. The programs that are more "upper tier" than us didn't need a coach. That said, I don't disagree with anything else you said.
