Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

This morning’s Raymond Pages sample is the Megilla. Lovely habano wrapper. The spice evident upon lighting is matched by a balancing sweetness. Leather and toasted dark bread. Smooth. I want to say in my best Darth Vader voice, Flavor is here, and the nicotine is with him. Medium-full body.

Edit: As with each of its predecessors, good draw, clouds of smoke, even burn, firm ash.

This morning’s Raymond Pages sample is the BDL Liga 12 Habano. Alas, my individual cigar has a slightly tighter draw than the previous TPs that I’ve enjoyed. Its burn line hasn’t been even. TP’s cigar rollers are only human after all. Pepper, burnt toast, and a hint of dark cane syrup. Medium body. Becoming bready with an earthy umami in the second third.

Its just hard for me to get over those looking like intentional knock offs of a La Flor Dominica (which is a powerhouse of flavor).

This morning’s Raymond Pages sample is the Hoofty Hog - the Hoofty filler with a San Andreas Mexican binder and a habano maduro wrapper. It’s described as an even more Hoofty Hoofty. Upon lighting, it’s as if you put coco powder and finely ground cayenne in your cafe con leche, then the previously described Hoofty character comes through. Good draw, clouds of smoke, even burn, firm ash, proving that my previous TP was an exception.

Nov 1, and 60 degrees at dawn. This warm spell is freakishly long. This morning’s Raymond Pages sample is the Record Bond Edicion Limitada. The dark Connie wrapper smells slightly of cocoa before lighting. From the lighting, there’s a sweetness less apparent in the standard Record Bond. Peaty bread gives way to the fuller flavors previously mentioned as smoking progresses. The smoothness stands out. How are all of these flavors delivered with such a smooth smoke? Easy draw, clouds of smoke, even burn, firm ash.

This morning’s Raymond Pages sample is the Megilla MSA. Reported to have a San Andres maduro wrapper and rolled entubada style with a triple cap. A cocoa aroma before lighting, the slightly sweet cocoa is accompanied by nuttiness, earthiness, cedar, and leather from the first third. Medium-full body, the nicotine nudge instead of a kick.

To restate my opinion, a full bodied cigar has strong, pronounced flavors and a noticeable nicotine kick. Falling short in these aspects gets a medium-full from me, even if leather, earth, and wood are apparent.
