*****CLASS of 2018 SIGNEES AND COMMITS (Early Signing Period, DEC)

right now...ESPN has us as the number #12 class in the SEC...AND,

GO VOLS!

Nobody should put any stock into what happens today or in this signing class.

We are getting some solid IN-STATE pieces today, as well as a high upside QB and possibly some others.

We will get some good pieces, but we are working behind the 8 ball. Give Pruitt a year to get his '19 board set, and we should be cooking with peanut oil.

Bama's got 1 of the top 10 in Alabama. 2 out of top 30.

Remain calm. All is well....

But that doesn't mean anything to our fans.

We have either the most miserable, negative fans or they just have the most unrealistic expectations with no regard for the situation our coaches are in.

is all the above an option...ijk...:eek:lol:...it's tough for a lot of them now...we just have to appreciate the situation...it's called "early" for a reason...:)...we're doing pretty good I think, but there's a long way to go...appreciate the ride, I say...we'll be ok...

How can so many, supposedly football savvy fans, act like this recruiting is going very good, much less going great. The terms filling needs, not on CBJ's radar, Feb will be the real story, wait till 2019, etc tells me you all don't take much to impress. I'm not downing Pruitt here but Jones had a top 7 class lined up. It would still have been very strong even with the 4-8 record. Jones first recruiting class was ranked 21st in his short time. Made folks say things like TENN recruits itself. I wanted Jones gone, but I am not gonna jump all in on Pruitt yet, just like I wouldn't have for Schiano. Just please make realistic comments about the signing class. Don't try to convince yourself and others that things are great and going just like you hoped. Most of the current commitments were already committed.

now look, many of us understand the "actual" situation and we know that this is not an ideal situation for any of the coaches on the staff or any of us fans, but there's no way I'm going to be tossed into the pit of misery by an early signing period, not to mention a new coaching staff...I'm all in...even though I'm not blind to any of the obstacles that this staff has to overcome...I'm a "Vol" fan...what else do I need to say...:)

everything's relative brother.

no one is "excited". no one thinks this is how it should be, or how it will be.

but, if you exercise a little situational awareness, it's a whole lot easier to see the sliver lining in the 9 guys that have signed, and the potential that's out the for what will be the remaining 15 or so signees come February.

and if you aren't thinking about the 19 cycle being an opportunity for a big year, then i don't know what to tell you.

but, you do what you want to do.

Yep, you can blame that on the former group leading this charge. Maybe that is why they are former. Not the dong of CJP. Lets judge this class once both signing periods are over, OK. Not everyone in the country is going to sign today.

You're really pining for Jones? Jones didn't know what he was doing. How good were the classes "on paper" that culminated in the worst season in UT history. None of us know if Pruitt will be better. Maybe 4 years from now... we're right back in the same place. But Jones deserved to be fired. He was not a competent coach and by the product he put on the field he wasn't that great of a recruiter either. Part of recruiting is getting great players. But the other parts are getting pieces that fit together and filling roster needs.

Your user name says all we need to know about your outlook as a fan. Firstly, Butch had almost a full two months to recruit and wasn’t still obliged to finish a role at his previous school. Furthermore, his first class was ranked 25th.

Secondly, there are several important recruits left to sign today/this week, and several others like Griffin, Peterson, Copeland, Stuart-Taylor, Valentin, etc that aren’t signing until February. Besides Greg Bell, we’ve gotten everyone that we’ve expected to sign today, and a couple others that were surprises. Go get some sunlight dude.

Fans are very negative. They are very negative everywhere. You expect Pruitt to be a miracle worker after the train wreck Jones, the Administration and the fans created. You act like he's supposed to work miracles then you question every move. February will look better. Also, some of these so-called 4 and 5 "stars" across everyones board not pan out. Key is can he and his staff take what he has on hand and develop them better than other schools develop theirs. Honestly, reading between the lines the Mayes kid comes off as an entitled head case based on what some of his peers are posting. The fact that Pruitt got in late on so many kids and either got them to sign or got them to put off signing until Feb. speaks volumes for the future

Maybe cause some of us are looking at quality over quantity?

On 247 we're 11th in SEC with only 14 commits counting for an average rating of 88.06

If you look at just the average grade, we're 7th.

Plus, it's freaking December we got 10 LOIs signed for a class that is top 20 based on average grade. With an incomplete staff & limited time to operate that's impressive.

Considering CJP landed 3 guys who never committed, 2 of which are 4 star guys from in-state that fill needs.

You also speculate about Jones' last class, while taking an unfinished product in CJP's first class and being pessimistic. I think Pruitt ends up higher than 21st with his first class...and based on the circumstances leading up to his hiring that will arguably be more impressive than any class Jones finished with.
