Loved that movie. It is very similar story to my Mom's parents. Loved listening to my Grandparents tell their stories. For me, this movie put pictures to my grandmother's words.

Vicki Lawrence is one of my all-time favorite actresses. Many of my students have seen Mama's Family reruns, and I emphasize that she did that when she was in her 30s. I think she's great. I do "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" as an example of a ballad and play both her and Reba's version in class. Most have heard Reba's, I guess being raised around country music.
