I was just watching Sports on Channel 10 here in Knoxville. Josh Roe said that CPF has announced that Clausen will get the start against Florida.

I've been trying to find it online to verify the authenticity...but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I know that no one here should be surprised by his choice...just thought it was interesting that it's now official. :)

Fulmer said tonight in his teleconference that he had not yet talked with Sanders or the rest of the staff but he 'suspected' that Clausen would be 'the guy' at quarterback.

Thanks for the PM. I'm glad to hear that his injury wasn't as serious as we first thought. That's some much needed good news.

good for rick...he played well and deserves to start. he just seems to have a better feel for the offense then eric at this point. clausen just looks more confident to me...

Yeah he is.

HE can even have another one somewhere down the road.

But I don't want him having it as a starting QB against Florida or LSU when we have Clausen there to play instead.

Is the BEST option allowed to play? Or do we have to keep playing "favorites"?

If he turns his game around, quick, I expect him to be a far better option than Clausen.

Ainge did better than this in practice as well, I'm sure.

this is a bad decision. i dont like it. ainge is our guy and we should stay with him. i am afraid that this will hurt ainge in the long run.

If it hurts Ainge to allow the BETTER option to play, than so be it.

Ainge might be a better option once he learns the game a little more, and learns how to play TEAM BALL, but right now, it's all Clausen.

I fully believe the thought that Ainge was named starter for UAB because the coaches thought that would give him the confidence he needed as a team player. Unfortunatly, that didn't happen.

Now it's time to go with the guy that moves the offense. If Clausen struggles and Ainge snaps back and plays like he did last season, then GREAT, I am all for it. But until that time, play the hot hand, and that is Rick.

Now while I think Ainge may be in a sophomore slump that he should recover from, and that he can still turn out to be the better QB this season, Rick earned the starting position yesterday CBC. Rick played decent, Erik played terrible after the first two drives.

u have a valid point milo. but.............ainge was perfectly fine until WAM, they brought clausen in on the 3rd drive.

i think ainge would of had a terrific game if they had just let him stay in. he had a rythym going. and he just through a perfect ball to hannon in the endzone.

but they screwed up his rythym and the rest is history.

Thing is they rotated him and brent last year and yet he would come back into the game and be fine! He still has not learned to look off the safety!

That is SUCH A WEAK EXCUSE Charly.

He didnt get the TD on the first drive, and he was saved by an EXCELENT catch on the TD when he overthrew the receiver after being set up INSIDE the 40. I wouldnt say he was beating the world before the change. He also knew for DAYS that he was going to be pulled. He also was pulled last season for a few games for Schaeffer, and that didn't seem to affect him.

Quote the contrary, and something NO ONE HAS MENTIONED ON VOLNATION is that the last time I saw Ainge play like this....... WAS WHEN HE WAS NAMED STARTER AGAINST AUBURN.

Maybe the boy just can't START well. He struggled STARTING at S. Carolina and vs. Notre Dame too.

Think about it guys, some people just don't do well in certain situations.

well lets just bench him. and play clausen out. then we can start crompton next season. and the two freshmen from last year we can just write them off. great recruiting there huh?

Well, one freshman from last year chose to quit because he wasn't going to play. If the other one wants to leave. Let him. I don't want people here that don't want what's best for the TEAM.

Sad that you read my last post and took out of it that we should bench him. Thats not even close to what it says.
