Clawson to Wake Forest

You are so wrong.

CPF didn't interfere with the Chief and supported him. CPF constantly overruled Clawson on play calling and offensive game planning, he also wasn't allowed to bring in any of his offensive assistants. He was severely hamstrung by CPF.

Have you ever asked yourself why CPF's offenses had sever drop offs when Cutt left?

Agree. In addition to all that, I read that CPF allowed the players to question and talk back to Clawson. Impossible to succeed in that environment.

Never heard anyone say that about the players, not doubting it but some of the assistant coaches openly disagreed and questioned his offense. And CPF didn't put a stop to it.

Every coordinator Fulmer had on both sides of the ball from '95 until he was fired seems to be doing well for themselves in other places at the moment while Phil never got that shot at redemption that he expected (I will be interviewing them)...Very telling.

This is the part that seems lost on the Fulmer sack swingers. It's not like he's been shy about wanting to coach again and, yet, no one has come knocking on his door.

He WAS the bad situation here. There's something wrong when Chavis' top ten overall defense was going out and making stops everytime and Clawson's offense couldn't make a first down. I"m glad he's doing well now, but he was in over his head when he was here.

He's been doing well since he left here; I seriously doubt he was "in over his head".

It's a good move for Clawson and while WF isn't a football powerhouse by any means, it's still a promotion to a BCS school. He could make some noise in the ACC.

Good get for Wake. Now if they can just do something about their basketball coach.

BS...
If Fulmer was overruling him, wouldn't you think as a former O'lineman, O'line Coach, and OC the first thing Fulmer would have overruled would be the travesty, Clawful started when he had the Oline playing both guard and tackle

watch the UCLA game where we averaged about 8 yards a carry, and he continued to call passing plays in the second half, and the Auburn game when all we need were a couple of first downs to kick a FG to win..

I heard an interview after Clawson had moved on and he felt free to speak openly and he said he'd send a play in, down to the sidelines and Fulmer would blatantly change the call and signal in something totally different. The more I've seen of Clawson's head coaching ability the more evident it becomes that he was absolutely NOT the problem.

Yet he has a head coaching job in a BCS conference and Fulmer couldn't get garbage programs like Kansas to give him a second look.

Do you really think Clawson is a bad coach after he has built 3 programs?

Lets give your argument the benefit of the doubt and say that 08 was entirely his fault. So he had one bad year (aside from rebuilding years early in programs).

How do you not see he is a talented coach? When my brother played for him, NFL OC's would actually have him come in during offseason to learn from the guy. This is a normal thing, but he is certainly respected amongst colleagues.

Now no telling if he will have success at WF as the program is in shambles, but the guy can coach and knows offense.

He can recruit too, my brother was offered by numerous D1 and D1AA schools that were better than Fordham, but he went because of Clawson. Dude is smart as a whip.

I believe, his time at UT as the OC, pushed us into the abyss, that has been the last 4 years...

It's still Fulmers fault, he hired him, and was fired as a consequence, and of course Hamilton didn't help with is hirings after firing Phil

I think Wake Forest picked up a steal in Clawson and it will be interesting to see him match wits against Cutcliffe.

No that is fact. CPF did it to Randy Sanders also.

How do you explain 2005? The same situation occurred, great defense, terrible offense. Guess what, Dave Clawson wasn't here then.
