I’m sure they do. This is why I usually feel uncomfortable on our site when threads devolve into programs bashing and outright slander sometimes. Looking at others doing it SHOULD magnify just how juvenile and pernicious it is. Borders on “classless” IMO.

Clemson people are salty because:
1) They got that fanny beat in the Orange Bowl, softball, and baseball- all in the same year- by the Vols in front of everybody
2) Rick Barnes left them for Texas and they have sucked out loud ever since in men’s basketball. Women’s basketball sucked so bad they moved games from Littlejohn to Jervey practice gym so they could have a better experience. Even after this year, the women won 2-3 in the NIT, and the men (after an extended period of whining because they didn’t make the dance) promptly shat the bed in the NIT as the #1 seed AT HOME against the lowest seed. Meanwhile, CRB and CKH took their respective teams to the Sweet 16 and are recruiting circles around Clemson
3) The shine has worn off the diamond of Dabo, with staff turnover and decommitments, and FSU being on the way back up, which presents a real challenge in the “mighty” ACC. It remains to be seen how their offense does this year, with their efforts to copy UT in that regard, but that whooping in the bowl game brought everybody down to earth and they cannot stand Tennessee and the different trajectory they are on. Icing on the cake would be for an inquiry into Clemson’s recurring practices since Bowden was coaching, as that is when they exploded on the scene. Everybody knows how they did things under Danny Ford, but their program isn’t as squeaky clean as they would lead you to believe. They keep talking about “culture” and so forth, and the culture CJH has at UT is every bit what quality recruits want. Tennessee’s tradition of winning is more established than Clemson’s and they see that as a threat.

Clemson has been funneling money to players since Dabo got there, only reason they are even relevant…

You guys still handing out money in McDonalds bags? The TN program is trash and it will take more than wins to bring any level of respect back to it. As far as Matthews goes if you get him fine I am truly happy for you as he will be a good player, but Clemson does not need him to make or break its class. I hope that one day TN will be able to recruit based on its performance and not on shady money deals. Not saying that is what happened here but the specter always looms when you have set that standard for your program.

Light? 28 scholarships is "light". It was a ridiculous ruling. The total paid was $60,000. UT initiated the investigation and self-disciplined.

The moral to the story here is cover it up and never cooperate. The NCAA had a shot at incentivizing programs to self-police and blew it BIG TIME.

What a bunch of babies. Pruitt just got 2 years ahead of paying some players. It's a free for all now.
