Clemson’s offense needs more than just a dynamic QB | TigerNet

I watched the Orange Bowl again last night on the SEC network and the Vols certainly played an inspired efficient - intelligent game. The game certainly has played havoc with the confidence in Clemson's program with the record setting performance in plays run, etc. but scoring only 14 while dominating time of possession. Vol fans have seen this numerous times and opposing coaches dread matching up with Heupel's Vols.

Critiques of Dabo's program are spilling out from all directions in South Carolina. Georgia Bulldogs will be next to feel the wrath of the Vols.

Time to steal a cycle or two on the recruiting trail whilst all the Clemson naval gazing gives us the opportunity to sow some doubt and hesitancy amongst recruits both programs covet.
Heaven knows Clemson and other programs sure did that to us the last decade

Exactly.

Hope Heupel and company make it a focus to pull talent from GA, upstate SC, and NC.

Not only plenty of talent there but it hurts our enemies.

Talent base is expanding from the Charlotte area as well. Not on par with Atlanta area but NC is pretty close to what TN can offer in terms of state wide talent. Vols have had good luck over the years with upstate SC talent.

The Tennessee Volunteers gashed Clemson’s offensive line, collecting four sacks and seven tackles for loss. Clemson’s wide receivers had just one reception of 30-plus yards, and Klubnik looked like the green-behind-the-ears quarterback that coaches said he was this year.

Maybe the most damning paragraph. That loss really seemed to have done a number on their fans and confidence. You hate to see it

Dabo just got out coached plain and simple. And I'm glad he's on the defensive a bit now so recruits can see it. He's done a great job at Clemson but he's looking a little more like a carnival barker of late.

I love the way JH carries himself....praises players and fans when we win, takes the blame when we lose. He never whined about opt outs or tried to make excuses ahead of time....just very business like guy with just enough emotion (hugging players post game, only time you see him angry is with a stupid officiating decision).

Yet he still made it to the NFL

Speaks to how QB starved the league is IMO .

Still gets most of the blame and, as the QB, was the face of how bad the offense was under Pruitt.

Congrats to him for drawing a solid paycheck on the Broncos. Could well follow in Dobbs' footsteps and make a solid career on practice squads and back up situations. A lot worse ways to make a living.

Clemson issues to me:

1. average WRs
2. OL not that good
3. Conditioning: In the 4th Quarter our Defense had over 100 snaps and it was Clemson Offense and Defense that was tuckered out.
4. Offensive schema/play calling.
5. Young inexperienced QB and putting too much pressure on him to carry the team.

Clemson has more issues than just the need of players around the dynamic QB. Tennessee overtook the stadium 80/20…even the Clemson endzone was a Tennessee endzone. The support and energy of the program has faded away with the emergence of NIL. Youth Leader Dabo can’t get away with wads of cash to recruits now that other programs can play the same game now legally. It’ll be a slow bleed for Clemson much like it was for us in 2001 after the LSU loss.

It's been a long time coming, my friend! Clemson has stolen the likes of Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, Travis Etienne and not so much Amari Rogers, but many others!
