Clemson/Syracuse

You watch. Clemson is going to win this stupid thing yet. That QB change and then the penalty have changed everything.

I see Ohio St is still letting Stroud play even though there’s zero chance of Iowa coming back. I’m so shocked.

Yeah but Clemson’s O isn’t very good and the Cuse D is solid. Cuse gets up 18 and this one is over. But the Cuse O isn’t very good so I don’t know that they will ever get up that much.

Clemson’s offense isn’t bad - they’ve been regularly making longer drives and moving the ball down the field - but they’re repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot at the ends of it.

Their drives were:
  • 7 plays, 71 yards, TD
  • 14 plays, 42 yards, interception at the Syracuse 15
  • 9 plays, 43 yards, fumble at the Syracuse 3 returned for a Syracuse TD
  • 9 plays, 32 yards, turnover on downs at the Syracuse 32
  • 10 plays, 49 yards, 44 yard FG (Syracuse 26)

Before the last two drives of 1 play, 21 yards, RB fumble at the Syracuse 42, and 3 play, 7 yards, Interception at the 50.

They’re not really having trouble moving down the field. (They’re in the middle of a 12 play 77 yard drive as I type this).

With how the keep moving the way they’ve been, they’re not likely to be fully out of it unless the margin gets as large as 4 drives worth of scores (or more)….(and while it’s possible, it’s also not terribly likely that every remaining drive is going to be continued turnovers either.)

I never said they were bad but with DJ at QB they aren’t very good either.

Fair. He was struggling. Just trying to point out the play more has been “continuous shooting self in the foot” (with poor decisions and turnovers), giving Syracuse their lead and competitiveness in this game. The way the offense has been moving (and the other offense hasn’t been), it’d likely be a different game without all of them.

No doubt. Now Syracuse is doing their own shooting with penalties.

From that angle the Syracuse late hit didn’t look that bad to me. And if you call that you sure as heck have to call it on Clemson.
