Clemson’s offense isn’t bad - they’ve been regularly making longer drives and moving the ball down the field - but they’re repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot at the ends of it.
Their drives were:
- 7 plays, 71 yards, TD
- 14 plays, 42 yards, interception at the Syracuse 15
- 9 plays, 43 yards, fumble at the Syracuse 3 returned for a Syracuse TD
- 9 plays, 32 yards, turnover on downs at the Syracuse 32
- 10 plays, 49 yards, 44 yard FG (Syracuse 26)
Before the last two drives of 1 play, 21 yards, RB fumble at the Syracuse 42, and 3 play, 7 yards, Interception at the 50.
They’re not really having trouble moving down the field. (They’re in the middle of a 12 play 77 yard drive as I type this).
With how the keep moving the way they’ve been, they’re not likely to be fully out of it unless the margin gets as large as 4 drives worth of scores (or more)….(and while it’s possible, it’s also not terribly likely that every remaining drive is going to be continued turnovers either.)
